I tell my students all the time that sewing is one of the most complex, multi-tasking skills you can ever learn.
What your brain is actually performing during that time is not just creativity. It requires equal cooperation from both the right and left sides of your brain. You have to balance both 1) complex steps in a specific order with the machine to make it function properly but 2) you also have to be able to read, comprehend, and perform all the various steps in a specific as well from start to finish to complete a project and 3) you enjoy a creative accomplishment no matter how difficult it may get. Sewing is not for the weak. Know that if you are learning to sew (or can already sew) you are brave, fearless, exceptionally intelligent, willing to take risks, willing to be challenged to grow intellectual, inspirational, creative, and so much more! You are able to accomplish both equal parts of organization (left hemisphere)and creativity (right hemisphere-which may look like chaos at times). SEW....KEEP GOING! YOU'VE GOT THIS!
