Congratulations to Chief Bill Owens III for being sworn in as the President of the New York State Association of Fire Chiefs today.

Congratulations to Chief William K. Owen III, Stittville Fire Department (Oneida County), who was installed today as president of the New York State Association of Fire Chiefs during the 120th Annual Conference & Expo in Syracuse. Bill follows in the footsteps of his father, the late William K. Owen Jr., who led NYSAFC as president from 2008-2009.

This morning members from Vienna Fire Department were invited to attend the 107th Annual Oneida County American Legion Convention in Chadwicks.

We were honored to receive First Responders Citation for Fire Department of the Year for actions taken during a successful rescue that occurred June 22nd, 2025 in which two community members were injured and trapped when a large tree fell on their 5th wheel camper.

We don’t do what we do for awards, but we all are extremely humbled to receive this award. More importantly to be standing amongst the two survivors, surrounded by American Legion Hero’s was nothing less than incredible.

Also congratulations to our neighbors, North Bay Fire Department and Sylvan Beach Fire Department for receiving unit citations as well. They will be presented to them at their next member meeting.

This morning we were at Treasure Isle RV Park with Mercy flight central for a awesome community outreach event. We were able to meet several of the campers and show off our equipment.
