The Martin Stevko Collection on EarthWonders. ✨

This incredible specimen features deep purple quartz var. amethyst crystals in the classic “artichoke” growth habit from Vălişoara, the historic Porkura locality in Hunedoara County, Romania. Collected around the 1780s, and formerly in the Philip Gregory and Bill Larson collections, it is as much a piece of mineral history as it is a striking specimen.

5 Facts About the Tokyo International Mineral Fair ✨

The 2026 Tokyo International Mineral Fair took place from 22nd – 25th May at Shinjuku Sumitomo Building Sankaku Hiroba, bringing together collectors, dealers, researchers, and nature lovers for one of Japan’s leading mineral events.

A few highlights that caught our attention:

1. It began in 1988, when TIMA was founded to launch Japan’s first mineral fair
2. The first Tokyo International Mineral Fair opened in Shinjuku on 3rd June 1988
3. Its very first edition featured overseas dealers from 8 countries, alongside 54 domestic dealers
4. Today, it brings together around 200 specialist dealers from 30+ countries
5. The 2026 edition was the 39th fair, with a special exhibition spotlighting meteorites
