True Grit Partners is evolving!

After working closely with many small business owners, I realized the biggest legacy risk isn’t growth, it’s succession. Over the next decade, millions of blue-collar businesses will change hands, and too many of them won’t survive the transition.

I’m stepping up to help preserve the ones that matter.

True Grit Partners is now a holding company focused on acquiring automotive and construction-related service businesses. Our mission is simple: protect legacies, keep teams employed, and continue the work these founders spent their lives building. We are not here to strip the business down, and destroy what these owners have built just for a profit, but rather build on what they have already created and keep them going for the long term!

Set the “Impossible” Goal — and Then Go Get It!

At the start of this year, I set what many people thought was a crazy goal:
Lose 80 pounds by the end of the year.

I started January 5th at 282 lbs.
This morning, I stepped on the scale at 196 lbs.

What I’ve learned is this, most people never reach their full potential because they’re afraid to set goals that seem impossible in the moment. They only set goals they can already see a path to achieving.

But when you set a goal that feels out of reach, something powerful happens:
1. You start thinking differently.
2. You break down your current habits and systems.
3. You find inefficiencies and remove what’s unnecessary.
4. You get creative.

It works for fitness, and it definitely works for business! There is even a book gaining crazy popularity right now about this exact mindset…funny because anyone that knows me personally knows this is how I have always thought!

If your goals are comfortable, they’re probably not big enough. You’ll never innovate or grow if you’re only working within what you already know.

So set that goal that scares you. The one that seems unrealistic. The one that forces you to change how you operate.

Because the truth is it’s not impossible. You just haven’t become the person yet who can achieve it.

Remember: “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

Set the impossible goal. Then go make it possible.

Every Sunday, I spend a couple of hours meal prepping for the week.
At first, it feels like work… but once the week gets going, I save time, energy, and decision fatigue. I don’t have to wonder what I’m eating, the plan is already in place. Business works the same way. Too many owners wake up each week scrambling, reacting, and trying to figure things out on the fly. That’s like deciding every meal at the last minute, it wastes time, energy, and often money.
Instead, what works is creating a strategic plan, your “meal prep” for the business. Then, breaking that down into focused 90-day plans keeps you on track. Just like meal prepping keeps me fueled and efficient during the week, a solid 90-day business plan keeps your company efficient and moving toward long-term goals.
When you prep your meals, you eat better.
When you prep your business, you grow better. Success isn’t about reacting, it’s about planning ahead.
Plan. Prep. Execute!

Had such a great time at the Kendall County Fair this year! I got to help judge some of the awesome floats and even drive through the parade with my truck wrapped in the True Grit Partners logo.
