Newly Born: Postpartum Doula Care and Lactation Services

Newly Born: Postpartum Doula Care and Lactation Services I would love to offer my skills to support new moms and help them become the mom they have envisioned of being for their baby.

My Mission:
I hope to provide you and your family with confidence and support as you experience the best parenting journey possible. About Me:
Through DONA International, the world’s premier doula training certification program, I have started my certification as a postpartum doula. I am also a mother of two small boys, ages 3 and almost 5. I've decided to take this path because everyone's birth s

tory and "4th trimester" is so unique and I was lucky enough to have a birth doula, a postpartum doula as well as family close by to help me through this beautiful yet challenging time. I would love to offer my skills to support new moms and help them become the mom they want to be to their baby. With my background in mental health counseling and art therapy, I provide empowering and client-focused care in all that I do. If concerns about breastfeeding should arise I am also becoming a Certified Lactation Counselor. My Role As A Doula:
I work “alongside” the mother and her partner to offer support, companionship and guidance. My primary focus is on “mothering the mother” as she heals from birth and transitions to the persistent demands of caring for a newborn. Through my dedication to you and your family’s needs, I hope to help you find balance and to strengthen your intuitive ability to parent and nurture your baby. What Does a Doula Do:
A Doula provides non-medical support and companionship, advises and helps with newborn care and the adjustment for older siblings, provides evidenced-based information on feeding, emotional and physical recovery from childbirth and other concerned related to the “4th Trimester” as well as be able to make referrals to appropriate specialists if necessary.

We often hear people talk about sleep regressions, but this can send parents off on a tangent, fearing their child is losing skills they once had. Understanding what's happening is essential to helping parents cope with these times and truly help their kids.

As a doula, That comes in during the most delicate time, I often ask my clients what makes them feel like a "woman"? I get a variety of answers and each is unique. Self-care is something we all need to think about....

"We tend to set the bar really low with self-care. We put the above bare essentials in the self-care category. I do this, too. This makes it seems like that’s all we need to feel cared for, to feel replenished, to feel well. But while a shower is wonderful and incredibly refreshing, we don’t have to stop there. We can ask for, and we can require more."

“Self care is often portrayed as taking a shower or eating dinner while it’s hot. I believe that’s crazy. I do those things because I’m a person.” // I absolutely love these words. You’ll find them in this post by Lisa...
