“We should never underestimate the benefit to a child of having a place to belong—even one—where they can take off their armor. It can and does change the trajectory of their life.” in her book

The beautiful thing about this quotation, is while childhood is the most ideal time to have a space like this, it’s never too late. Maybe you felt belonging in your preschool classroom, or in a volunteer activity in high school, or even a weekly book club in adulthood. A sense of belonging and support is integral to confidence.

Tell me about a space where you belong. What is it like? Who is there? What makes you feel like you belong? What do you do in this space? How do you feel when in this space? How does it contribute to your confidence?

Hey Mav friends 👋 Hannah here. Thank you for being patient while I was MIA. It’s been a hectic past few months and I needed time to...become more confident! “I have never been 100% okay with my body. In high school, I was in my head. I was comparing myself. I had different bodies than my sisters and my friends. I was internalizing that and pressuring myself to be like that.” -, from our interview, Tanya Taylor’s Liam Najarian On Growing Up, Her New Creative Studio, And Feeling Comfortable In Her Body. When I was 8 I saw many women around me who weren’t living up to their dreams. It upset me. I used to ask my mom why she wasn’t a famous designer or my friend’s mom why she left her big job in finance. I was even told by a teacher in high school I should stay away from business because I didn’t do well in his precalculus class - I almost let his words get to me. This is the confidence gap. Women are so often told and shown they can’t do it, so why would they? Women are brilliant, passionate and have huge goals. They can achieve anything they set their minds to. It’s my wish that every woman can trust herself, her abilities, and reach for her goals. I want all women to live a personally meaningful life. Let’s raise that confidence, ladies!

Swipe left to learn more about the gap and how it affects women. What do you think about the confidence gap? 🤔 💭

How excited does the idea of having your own inner mentor make you?

A little while ago suggested I read “playing Big,” by . Picked it up and quickly learned about the inner mentor. I just had to share my new knowledge with you! I tried the meditation in the book and I cried. I highly suggest you purchase it (link in bio) or pick up a copy at the library!
