Last but *definitely* not least, what you need for bottle-feeding! 🍼🍼🍼
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What do you need if you are planning on bottle-feeding your baby?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
First up: the basics. Of course, you need the food! Formula (check with your pediatrician to decide on the best formula for your baby) or pumped breastmilk. Of course, you need the bottles and usually babies prefer it warmed up (hence the fancy and classic options! Notice: no microwave as it can create hot spots of scalding milk!).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You'll want a good solid system to clean and sanitize your bottles. The more organized you are about this, the faster and easier the bottle washing will go.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You will be sitting and feeding your baby for many hours just like the breastfeeding parents so make sure you have a comfy place to sit and a pillow designed for comfortably positioning your baby (and easy to clean for any milk that gets on it!). You will also want to think about how you will feed your baby when you are out and about so look for a cooler bag and formula dispenser.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Lastly, just like I said for breastfeeding and pumping parents, make sure to take care of YOU! Healthy foods and lots of water are essential to your well-being and energy so make those a priority! And if taking care of yourself means watching Gilmore Girls but pretending the Logan seasons and reboot didn't happen, who am I to stop you?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Bottle-feeding moms, what do you suggest here? Any tips? Please share in the comments!

Pumping moms, raise your hands! 🙋🏼‍♀️🙋🏽‍♀️🙋🏿‍♀️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I wouldn't DREAM of forgetting you all because I was one of you not too long ago!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Long story short: I wasn't able to establish breastfeeding my first baby so I ended up exclusively pumping for eight months. Yes, several times a day for eight whole months. And I'm proud I did it because it was the right choice for me and my baby.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Was it a lot of work? Oh yes it was. Did it mean I pumped at the airport, in the car, in many many parking lots and even the nurses station at Universal Studios? Also yes.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Was it worth it? For me, sure was!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Whether you are exclusively pumping, pumping to build up your back-to-work stash or pumping occasionally just so someone else can feed your baby, there are lots of tools that will make this process a lot easier.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Swipe through to see some of my top suggestions, from one pumping mom to another!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And for that last slide, don't forget...you need to take care of YOU! Eat, drink and watch Leslie Knope so you can relax and enjoy your (many) hours of pumping time.

What do you need if you are breastfeeding your baby? 🤱🏻
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Swipe through to see suggestions of things you will want to have on hand if you plan on breastfeeding your new baby!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
First up: things that make you feel more comfortable for all the many hours you will spend feeding your baby. Nursing pillows, nursing pads, ni**le cream and silverette cups are some of the (many) things available to you!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Please note: if you experience ni**le pain or discomfort, it's a good idea to meet with a lactation consultant to get it all checked!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Nursing friendly clothes are optional but do make your life a little easier when you are out and about and your baby needs to eat! Nursing covers are definitely not required but make some parents more comfortable in public.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I always recommend expecting parents do research to find the names and numbers of local lactation counselors and consultants so they can reach out quickly and easily if they need help. Those lactation constants can also give you the names of breastfeeding support groups which can be a big source of information and encouragement!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Lastly, take care of YOU. Have healthy and balanced foods on hand to nourish your body, drink LOTS of water and find something to do during breastfeeding that is relaxing or fun (The Office, anyone?). This is a marathon, not a sprint. Keep yourself in mind as you feed your baby!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Breastfeeding parents, any other things to add to this list? Anything on here you found especially important? Please share in the comments!

📣 New blog post!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This week on the blog and here on IG, I'll be talking about some helpful tools to make life easier when feeding your new baby. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We'll be covering the big three: breastfeeding, bottle-feeding and exclusive pumping. Each has their own set of tools that you will want to consider having on hand before your baby arrives (or if you switch feeding methods) so you can jump right into feeding your baby with ease and comfort!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Head on over to the blog (link in bio) and keep an eye on the feed this week so see my top suggestions for what you (really) need to feed your baby!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

🎉 You deserve to celebrate! 🎉⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Often the end of the year is all about looking forward and setting resolutions or goals for the next year. But don't forget to also take a look back and reflect on how much you have grown this past year.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Celebrate all you have accomplished and how you have expanded and changed and overcome obstacles!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Let us know in the comments what you are proud of achieving this year (parenting/baby related or not!).⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

✨Resolutions for parents✨
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you haven't come up with any resolutions yet for this coming year, here are a few suggestions!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
To sum it up, you can resolve to:
Go easy on yourself
Ask for help
Enjoy your baby as they are right now
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You know what isn't on here?
Get baby sleeping through the night
Keep a cleaner house
Lose the baby weight
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
While some of the above may be fine goals, just remember that it's ok to resolve to celebrate where you are right now and to reach out for help to make your life easier.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You don't have to be it all and do it all.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You can just be.

📣 Last reminder as you prepare for this holiday season! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you have a routine that works for you and your baby, it's ok to maintain that even when traveling or visiting family! ⏰⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now, you may want to adjust it a bit or hope baby is cool going along for the ride so you don't miss out on holiday fun. But if you would rather turn in early or skip an outing so baby can nap, that's ok! If you leave the dinner table to put them down for bed or to feed them in a quiet place, that is you being a great parent by ensuring your baby gets what he needs. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I know that before I had kids, I didn't always get why the parents in my life were so "stuck" on routines. But now that I'm a mom AND help parents navigate their baby's routines on a daily basis, I totally get it now! Routines are very helpful for keeping your baby calm, happy and contented. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And if you are feeling the pressure to "just skip their nap" or "feed them when we get there", just remember: you're going to be the one handling your baby if they are fussy or tired or hungry. So you get to decide what is best for your little one.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Another friendly reminder: you should expect others to respect your decisions around caring for your baby.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What does that look like in real life?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⚪️ If a grandparent offers to put the baby to sleep and you have a routine you follow, they should follow it too (including putting the baby on their back to sleep!). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⚪️ If you feel the clothes you put on your baby are appropriate for the weather, it's not ok for someone else to change them or add clothes without your permission.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⚪️ If you are trying to establish breastfeeding or want to avoid things like bottles or pacifiers, everyone should be cheering you on and helping make that happen. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
These are just some examples. But the point here is: what you say goes. If it's not your family, involve your partner in these conversations and enforce these boundaries.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
No one knows your baby like you do. You made your parenting decisions for a reason and others need to respect that.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Parents, any tips for setting and maintaining boundaries when visiting family and friends during the holidays? What worked for you?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

🎄Just a friendly reminder as you are getting ready to spend time with family during the holidays.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here is the list of who gets a say in how your baby is fed:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1) You.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2) Your partner.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
End of list ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So if you want to feed your baby on the couch without a cover 🤱🏼 go for itIf you want to keep them on your feeding routine and not change it abruptly because of dinner plans, that's fine. If you don't want someone else to bottle-feed your baby 🍼, that's ok.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And most importantly, if you want to breastfeed or bottle-feed, no one else gets a say in that. If you want that bottle to have formula or breastmilk or you ask for a place to pump, everyone can just say "great!" or nothing at all. If you want to feed your baby while doing a handstand 🤸‍♀️ that is YOUR choice. No one else gets a say in how your baby is fed.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So enjoy your holiday with your little one and know that YOU are their parent and you get to decide.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
