Hard Truth About Real Estate Struggles...
When I struggle in my real estate business, it is usually because I know I could be doing more but choose not to. It is a tough realization, but it is one I have faced more than once. Instead of taking action, I catch myself blaming outside factors like “the market is slow” or “leads are bad.”
Here is the truth no one likes to admit: most of our struggles are self-inflicted. It is easier to blame the market, the leads, or even your brokerage than to look in the mirror and ask, “What could I be doing better right now?” For me, it often comes down to consistent follow-up, sticking to a daily schedule, or taking on those small, boring tasks that do not feel urgent—but they are.
If you have ever felt this way, you are not alone. The difference between agents who break through and those who stay stuck is that breakthrough agents recognize the pattern and make changes. They stop waiting for things to “get better” and start doing the uncomfortable work.
Here is what has helped me shift my mindset:
1. Daily Reflection: Ask yourself, “What did I avoid doing today that could have moved my business forward?”
2. Action Over Excuses: If you feel stuck, pick one thing you have been putting off and do it. Send that follow-up message, make that call, or schedule that content post.
3. Stop Blaming, Start Owning: When you blame outside factors, you give away control. When you take ownership, you take control back.
Success in real estate is not just about strategy—it is about personal responsibility. No one else is going to do the work for you. The faster you own that, the faster you will move forward.
