Q: Do propane cylinders actually expire?

A: Not exactly, but they must remain within a valid requalification period to be refilled. Most common refillable propane cylinders require their first requalification 12 years after the date of manufacture. After that, the next requalification is required in 5, 10, or 12 years, depending on the method used. A damaged or deteriorated cylinder may be rejected sooner.
