38 Jesús, profundamente conmovido otra vez, vino al sepulcro. Era una cueva, y tenía una piedra puesta encima. 39 Dijo Jesús: Quitad la piedra. Marta, la hermana del que había mu**to, le dijo: Señor, hiede ya, porque es de cuatro días. 40 Jesús le dijo: ¿No te he dicho que si crees, verás la gloria de Dios? 41 Entonces quitaron la piedra de donde había sido puesto el mu**to. Y Jesús, alzando los ojos a lo alto, dijo: Padre, gracias te doy por haberme oído. 42 Yo sabía que siempre me oyes; pero lo dije por causa de la multitud que está alrededor, para que crean que tú me has enviado. 43 Y habiendo dicho esto, clamó a gran voz: ¡Lázaro, ven fuera! 44 Y el que había mu**to salió, atadas las manos y los pies con vendas, y el rostro envuelto en un sudario. Jesús les dijo: Desatadle, y dejadle ir.
El complot para matar a Jesús

45 Entonces muchos de los judíos que habían venido para acompañar a María, y vieron lo que hizo Jesús, creyeron en él. 46 Pero algunos de ellos fueron a los fariseos y les dijeron lo que Jesús había hecho. 47 Entonces los principales sacerdotes y los fariseos reunieron el concilio, y dijeron: ¿Qué haremos? Porque este hombre hace muchas señales. 48 Si le dejamos así, todos creerán en él; y vendrán los romanos, y destruirán nuestro lugar santo y nuestra nación. 49 Entonces Caifás, uno de ellos, sumo sacerdote aquel año, les dijo: Vosotros no sabéis nada; 50 ni pensáis que nos conviene que un hombre muera por el pueblo, y no que toda la nación perezca. 51 Esto no lo dijo por sí mismo, sino que como era el sumo sacerdote aquel año, profetizó que Jesús había de morir por la nación; 52 y no solamente por la nación, sino también para congregar en uno a los hijos de Dios que estaban dispersos. 53 Así que, desde aquel día acordaron matarle.
54 Por tanto, Jesús ya no andaba abiertamente entre los judíos, sino que se alejó de allí a la región contigua al desierto, a una ciudad llamada Efraín; y se quedó allí con sus discípulos.
55 Y estaba cerca la pascua de los judíos; y muchos subieron de aquella región a Jerusalén antes de la pascua, para purificarse. 56 Y buscaban a Jesús, y estando ellos en el templo, se preguntaban unos a otros: ¿Qué os parece? ¿No vendrá a la fiesta? 57 Y los principales sacerdotes y los fariseos habían dado orden de que si alguno supiese dónde estaba, lo manifestase, para que le prendiesen.

38 Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it.
39 Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.
40 Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?
41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.
42 And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
43 And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.
44 And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.
45 Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had seen the things which Jesus did, believed on him.
46 But some of them went their ways to the Pharisees, and told them what things Jesus had done.
47 Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many miracles.
48 If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation.
49 And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all,
50 Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not.
51 And this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation;
52 And not for that nation only, but that also he should gather together in one the children of God that were scattered abroad.
53 Then from that day forth they took counsel together for to put him to death.
54 Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews; but went thence unto a country near to the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim, and there continued with his disciples.
55 And the Jews' passover was nigh at hand: and many went out of the country up to Jerusalem before the passover, to purify themselves.
56 Then sought they for Jesus, and spake among themselves, as they stood in the temple, What think ye, that he will not come to the feast?
57 Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a commandment, that, if any man knew where he were, he should shew it, that they might take him.

38 וְהִשְׁנַח יֵשׁוּעַ שׁוּב וְנָגַח בְּבַל־בָּנָיו וַיָּבֹא אֶל־הַקֶבֶר. הַיְהִי מַעֲרָה, וְהָיָה אֶבֶן מוּלָח עָלֶיהָ.
39 אמר ישוע: "הסירו את האבן!" אמרה אליו מרתא, אחותו של המת: "אדוני, כבר מסריח הוא, כי כבר ארבעה ימים הוא מת."
40 אמר לה ישוע, "הלא אמרתי לך שאם תאמיני, תראי את כבוד אלוהים?"
41 אז הסירו את האבן מן המקום אשר שם היה מונח המת. וישא ישוע את עיניו ויאמר: אבי, אני מודה לך על ששמעת אותי.
42 וידעתי כי אתה שומע אותי תמיד; אך למען העם העומד מסביב אמרתי זאת למען יאמינו כי אתה שלחתני.
43 וכאשר דבר זאת, צעק בקול גדול, "לעזור, צא החוצה."
44 ויצא המת, כבול ידיו ורגליו בשמיכות, ופניו עטופות במגבת. ויאמר אליהם ישוע, שחררו אותו ותנו לו ללכת.
45 רבים מהיהודים אשר באו אל מרים וראו את אשר עשה ישוע האמינו בו.
46 אבל כמה מהם הלכו אל הפרושים וסיפרו להם את הדברים שעשה ישוע.
47 אז אספו ראשי הכוהנים והפרושים סנהדרין ואמרו מה נעשה כי האיש הזה עושה נסים רבים.
48 אם נניח לו כך, יאמינו בו כולם, והרומאים יבואו וייקחו את מקומנו ואת אומתנו׃
49 ואחד מהם, שמו קיפא, שהיה הכהן הגדול באותה שנה, אמר להם: "אינכם יודעים דבר,
50 ואל תחשבו כי טוב לנו שימות אדם אחד בעד העם ולא יאבד כל האומה.
51 ולא על עצמו דיבר זאת; כי בהיותו כהן גדול באותה שנה, ניבא כי ימות ישוע בעד העם ההוא;
52 ולא למען העם ההוא בלבד, אלא גם כדי שיאסף יחד לאחד את בני האלוהים אשר נפוצו.
53 ומאותו יום ואילך יעצו יחד להמיתו.
54 לכן לא התהלך עוד ישוע בגלוי בקרב היהודים, כי משם הלך אל ארץ הקרובה למדבר, אל עיר בשם אפרים, ושם נשאר עם תלמידיו.
55 ופסח היהודים היה קרוב, ורבים עלו מן הארץ לירושלים לפני הפסח, כדי להיטהר.
56 אז חיפשו את ישוע, ואמרו ביניהם בעמדם בבית המקדש, מה אתם חושבים שהוא לא יבוא לחג?
57 והכהנים הראשיים והפרושים גם יחד נתנו צוה שאם מישהו יודע היכן הוא נמצא, יגיד לו כדי שיוכלו לתפוס אותו.
