This Saturday, Tommy Ho**er and the band take the stage from 8 PM to Midnight, continuing a Texas dancehall tradition that is still alive and well.

Known for his award-winning song Texas In My Soul, Tommy Ho**er has spent decades keeping dance floors full and carrying on the authentic sound of Texas country music.

The PCSDRA is proud to support the Trio Club, a 2026 Sanctioned Cowboy Dance Rodeo Arena and the home of the Mingus Famous Cowboy Dance Rodeo.

For generations, the Trio Club has been where the cowboys dance. It's where friends gather, boots hit the floor, and live Texas music fills the room.

In an age when many historic dancehalls have disappeared, the Trio Club continues to keep the traditions of the Texas cowboy dancehall alive.

If you're looking for an authentic Texas dancehall experience, you'll find it right here in Mingus.

06/02/2026

Whether your goal is to compete in the Foundational Division or one day advance into the Professional Division, every Cowboy Dance Rodeo competitor must learn the standards of the organization they are competing under.

That's true in every competitive endeavor. Great competitors do not become great by ignoring the standards. They become great by studying them, understanding them, and mastering them.

Cowboy Dance Rodeo is no different.

The Professional Cowboy Social Dance Rodeo Association has developed its own competition standards, judging criteria, movement vocabulary, and expectations. Success in a PCSDRA arena requires much more than simply knowing a few patterns. It requires understanding what is being judged and developing the skills necessary to excel under those standards.

Every Cowboy Dance Rodeo competitor is evaluated through five core pillars:

• Footwork
• Topwork
• Connection
• Musicality
• Floorcraft

These five pillars form the foundation of Cowboy Dance Rodeo competition. A competitor who wishes to advance must continually develop all five. The strongest competitors are not those who excel in only one area. They are the dancers who demonstrate balance, consistency, and mastery across all five pillars.

This is why we offer our Tuesday Night Competition Class.

We teach the rules. We teach the standards. We teach the style. We teach what judges reward and what successful competitors must do to perform at a high level in the arena.

A movement that may be rewarded in another dance organization may not be rewarded in a PCSDRA Dance Rodeo.

Likewise, a highly skilled PCSDRA competitor may not be rewarded under another organization's standards. Different organizations reward different skills.

The path to becoming a great competitor is not trying to change the standards.

The path to becoming a great competitor is learning the standards, embracing the standards, and mastering the standards.

If you are serious about improving your scores, advancing through the divisions, and stepping onto the competition floor with confidence, this class is where that process begins.

Every week is a chance to strengthen the five pillars, gain direct insight into judging expectations, and correct the mistakes that keep competitors from reaching the next level.

The competitors who consistently improve are the ones who commit to learning, training, and refining their skills before competition day arrives.

Every week you delay is a missed opportunity to improve.

Take the next step this Tuesday. Show up prepared, train with purpose, and start building the foundation that leads to stronger performances and greater success in the arena.

We're excited to be dancing to the Pony Express Band this Monday at Silver Strings in Bowie, Texas.

There's just something special about live music in a Texas dancehall. The lights come on, the band strikes up a tune, boots start shuffling across the floor, and before long the whole hall is moving to the music.

Whether you're a regular at Silver Strings or you've been thinking about coming out for the first time, Monday night is a great opportunity to join us. Bring your friends, bring your partner, or come by yourself and enjoy an evening of great music, great people, and authentic Cowboy Social Dancing.

Every Monday night, cowboys and cowgirls from across North Texas gather at Silver Strings Dance Hall to learn, practice, and preserve one of the greatest traditions of our Western heritage—Cowboy Social Dancing.

This week's featured lesson is the Cowboy Traveling Waltz with the Million Dollar Move, a smooth, flowing, classic cowboy movement that has been turning heads on dance floors for generations. Whether you're brand new to dancing or you've spent years on the floor, this is a great opportunity to sharpen your fundamentals and add another beautiful movement to your toolbox.

Our Cowboy Dance Foundations class begins at 6:00 PM and is designed for anyone who wants to improve. Learn the basics, refine your footwork, build confidence, and prepare yourself for a full evening of dancing. No partner is required, and no experience is necessary.

From 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, we'll be dancing to live music by The Pony Express Band. If you love traditional country music, Western dancing, and a good Texas dance hall atmosphere, this is where you need to be on Monday night.

We're also encouraging everyone to start preparing for the upcoming PCSDRA Slack Rounds and the PCSDRA Silver Strings Cowboy Dance Rodeo. The best way to improve is to get out on the floor, dance with different partners, learn proper technique, and spend time moving to real music. Every Monday night is another opportunity to become a better dancer.

Doors open at 5:00 PM.

Bring your boots.
Bring your friends.

Tonight we be preparing competitors for our May 28 Slack Round at Lil Red's Longhorn Saloon with a special focus on the updated Classic Division rules and the brand-new Single Move Showbox requirement.

This new rule was designed for one reason: to sharpen the fundamentals.

Clean ex*****on. Strong control. Musical confidence. Intentional movement.

Competitors will now be expected to enter the showbox and confidently perform a single move with clarity, timing, posture, and presentation. No hiding behind chaos. No rushing through patterns. Just solid Cowboy Social Dancing performed with purpose and precision.

Tonight’s lesson will also cover official dance rodeo lingo, competition structure, judging expectations, and how to approach the floor like a true competitor. Whether you are brand new to the rodeo environment or preparing for your next sanctioned event, this class is built to help dancers understand not only how to dance, but how to compete.

We’ll also be working through the Five Pillars of Cowboy Social Dancing:

• Footwork
• Topwork
• Connection
• Musicality
• Floorcraft

These five pillars form the foundation of Dance the Cowboy Way and the competitive standards used inside the PCSDRA dance arena.

If you want to become cleaner, sharper, more confident, and more prepared for the Slack Round, tonight is where that work begins.

Practice tonight. Perform May 28.

6-7 Footwork, Musicality, and Floorcraft
