Sparta Mosquito Control

🏈 TWO BROTHERS. TWO SIDELINES. ONE FAMILY. 🏈

In 2008, Tyler Hoover ( #91, DT, Michigan State) and Trevor Hoover ( #85, WR, Eastern Michigan) went head-to-head when the Spartans faced the Eagles. Imagine THAT dinner table.

This Saturday the rematch is on — MSU hosts EMU at 3:30 PM — and their dad, Sparta Mosquito Control founder Michael Hoover, sits down with the legendary Tim Staudt at 12:30 PM on 94.9 WMMQ to relive the house-divided years and talk raising two D1 athletes in Michigan.

Full-circle moment: both boys helped build Sparta Mosquito Control back when we were first getting started — and in honor of the rematch, we're a proud sponsor of Saturday's game! 🦟🏈

Tune in before kickoff! 📻💚

🦟 Did you know? Jamestown Canyon virus is a mosquito-borne illness found right here in North America, with many cases popping up in the upper Midwest. With mosquito season in full swing, here is what you need to know to protect your family:

👉 How it spreads: It is transmitted exclusively through mosquito bites—mostly from species that feed on white-tailed deer. You cannot catch it from another person.

👉 The symptoms: Most people show no symptoms at all. Mild cases feel like the flu, bringing on a fever, fatigue, headaches, and muscle aches.

👉 The risks: In rare cases, it can cause severe brain inflammation (like encephalitis or meningitis). Seek emergency medical care immediately if someone experiences confusion, seizures, or a stiff neck.

👉 Prevention is key: There is no specific vaccine or treatment for this virus. Your best defense is prevention! Always wear EPA-registered insect repellent (like DEET) and long sleeves when spending time outdoors.Stay safe out there!
