The Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor is now accepting proposals for two funding opportunities to support tourism and recreation along the New York State Canal System!

Applications are now open for the 2027 NYS Canal System Tourism Infrastructure Amenities and Events Grants Program!

In collaboration with the New York State Canal Corporation, Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor is offering competitive grant funding to support tourism, recreation, and events along the New York State Canal System, including canal waterways and the Canalway Trail. Grants ranging from $5,000 to $24,000 are available for capital improvement projects and purchase of equipment that enhance recreational amenities and tourism along the NYS Canal System. Grants ranging from $500 to $3,000 are available for public events and festivals that encourage exploration and enjoyment of New York State’s canal corridor.

This program is part of a comprehensive strategy to ensure that the Canalway Corridor is among the most sought-after destinations in the nation for people of all ages and abilities. Applications that emphasize accessibility, incorporate universal design principles, and address gaps in services and amenities will be prioritized in 2027.

We are excited to share that Columbia College was awarded a grant from the U.S. Department of Education's National Professional Development Program. This award will support the college's Collaborative Pathways to English Learner Achievement project, which aims to strengthen South Carolina’s ESOL teacher pipeline.

We forecast that the New York State Education Department's 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) grant program will release its Round 9 request for proposals this Fall or in early 2027!

This program is one of the largest out-of-school-time grant programs in the state, supporting the creation of community learning centers that provide programming for students. BRI is proud to have longstanding relationships with the 21st CCLC Program in both grant writing and evaluation capacities.

Please join us in welcoming our latest BRI team member, Christian Solorio, Ph.D.! Dr. Solorio has been part of our Evaluations division as a contract Associate for the past two years, but has recently joined us as a full-time Evaluator.

Many adults with developmental disabilities (DD) live with family caregivers. However, as caregivers age and experience healthcare challenges of their own, many of those with DD are at risk of caregiving disruption, housing instability, and crisis placement.

This grant program from the Council on Developmental Disabilities' (CDD) aims to provide funding for the development of an innovative and scalable model that helps those with DD and their aging caregivers plan for long-term residential stability and safety.

Last month, Dr. Kelley Madden, and Kim Collins, MS attended the Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting Ceremony celebrating the completion of Eugenio María de Hostos Charter School - Rochester, NY ’s (EMHCS) Joseph Campus expansion project. The newly completed addition tastefully blends elements of the former Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, with graceful arched windows, original ornate trim, and even a rank of original organ pipes to create bright and eye-catching gathering spaces.

The new building will serve children in grades 7-12. BRI is proud to serve as the external evaluator for the EMHCS long-running 21st Century Community Learning Centers program.
