Congrats to the broad coalition of nonprofits who organized a successful advocacy campaign to push City Hall back in the right direction.
Make no mistake: New York City does NOT function without its nonprofits.
For decades, bureaucracy has tried to balance budgets on the backs of social service providers, while making them jump through hoop after hoop to receive the contract awards they have earned. These are not gifts or handouts; nonprofits are feeding our most hungry, caring for our most vulnerable, and reaching our most at-risk. They don't do it for glory or riches, but because they know and have felt the critical impact of this work firsthand.

I have proudly advocated for New York City nonprofits and advanced their storytelling for 15 years, and I am energized to keep this work going.
