The Rust Music was co-founded by Wyler Sanca, Francesco Ferran, and Malakai Linden. The blog portion of The Rust was founded by Wyler Sanca in November of 2014. It was created for the writer to be able to share his musical passions with the world and to shed light on the beautiful work being made by artists from all over. There are many creatives in all sorts of disciplines who aren't getting the

recognition that they truly deserve, and The Rust was designed to give those artists the chance to be heard. After several years of writing articles, curating playlists, and building a network of incredible musicians, the label and management portion of The Rust was launched. The Rust Music is a Digital Record Label and Management company devoted to discovering and sharing untapped talent and pushing quality and innovation within the realm of sound. Music has had a profound effect on each and every person involved in this project, and this community. Our goal is simply to help connect the deserving creative with their proper audience.

Veteran Danish producer Karsten Pflum delivers a haunting, British folk horror-inspired remix of ‘Stargazer', from Rumpistol’s award winning 2025 album, 'Nebula'. Shifting from his usual heavy IDM, the Berlin-based artist crafts a deeply emotional, hypnagogic soundscape. He strips back the original, layering distant flutes, microtonal synth melodies, and sleepwalking whiskered drums.

You can find it below, on our Bandcamp or wherever you listen to music, alongside six other Nebula remixes from artists including Lapa, AYO Schønherr, Foxtail, Faek, ISAN, & 57° North (Erot + Johannes Hedberg of Carbon Based Lifeforms).

It’s a great pleasure to officially welcome Tanner Irwin aka Soup Lips to The Rust Music family with his first catalog release on the label, a 2-tracker titled Kintsugi. You may already be familiar with his work through his collaboration with Darklord Gob on our recent compilation release, RUST100, but Irwin has been hard at work for the better part of the last decade honing in his unique sound, lush with psychedelia and a storytelling ability that can often evade even the most seasoned musicians.

With Kintsugi, Irwin takes inspiration from its namesake, the centuries-old Japanese art form of repairing broken pottery, using lacquer mixed with powdered gold. A philosophy that can extent to all aspects of life, Irwin prefers to think of Kintsugi as the practice of viewing brokenness not as a calamity, but as an opportunity to put pieces back together and create something even more beautiful and harmonious than before, in art, in music, and even interpersonally.

I keep making music because of its power to inspire catharsis and creativity, and it’s power to bring people together, much like the gold and lacquer binding between once shattered pieces. The Colorado music scene has never been defined by a single sound, a single musician, or single venue. The scene is sculpted by artists willing to take risks, evolve alongside their audience, and pour pieces of themselves into every release. For nearly a decade, Matthew Phillpot-Jones, better known as DMVU, has been one of those artists. His unmistakable blend of earth-shaking bass, cinematic textures, and deeply introspective songwriting has helped define Colorado's underground electronic scene while inspiring a generation of producers to push beyond genre boundaries and limitations. As DMVU steps back onto the stage with fresh music and a new perspective, we sat down to talk about creativity, Colorado, healing, and why this next chapter feels like the most authentic one yet.
