Did you know? Delirium is a medical emergency. π¨
Sudden confusion or a rapid change in alertness is not βjust dementia.β Delirium can be triggered by infection, dehydration, new medication, or pain, and it comes on over hours or days. Itβs often treatable if the cause is found quickly, which is why a sudden change in behavior should never be brushed off.
If your loved one suddenly seems confused, unusually sleepy, or βnot themselves,β contact their doctor or seek emergency care right away. A caregiver who knows their normal routine can help spot these changes early.
