Ha! A buzzer be**er if there ever was one.
---Sheesh, People Do This Alone?---
Did Neil Armstrong build the rocket that blasted him to the moon?
Did Benjamin Franklin make the kite he was electrocuted by?
I’m going off the rails. It takes a team to do something great, AND lasting. I’m blessed by the people who have already expressed interest in this grandiose dream of helping others.
As a result, I spoke with a legal professional today about a gnawing consideration: What was the difference between “employees” and independent contractors”?
I read articles for an hour to distill it somewhat quickly:
Employees - Covered by a host of laws. They work on your business day in, day out, and are integral. If you give someone performance reviews and invite them to Christmas parties, they likely are an Employee
Independent Contractors - Their jobs are covered by a Scope of Work contract, and they do things NOT typical in your day-to-day business (e.g. a retail store hiring a plumber would make the plumber an Independent Contractor).
After much research, I am fairly certain about the direction we are headed here at the GAC. Onwards to another day of learning and hopefully avoiding Labor disputes with New York State.
