Copper River salmon and halibut caught near the do naturally contain the mineral copper, but only in the small amounts found in most fish. They do not have elevated copper levels simply because they come from the Copper River.
🎣
The river itself was named for the rich copper deposits in the surrounding region, not because the water is loaded with dissolved copper. The fish are prized mainly for their high fat content and flavor, especially the famous Copper River salmon. 🍣

On average:
🍴
* Salmon contains a small amount of dietary copper (typically around 0.05–0.1 mg per 100 g).
* Halibut also contains a small amount, usually in a similar range.
🍽️
For comparison, most adults need about 0.9 mg of copper per day, so a serving of either fish contributes only a modest portion of that requirement.
