while I’m in between capturing conversations with Bo about the world, i thought I’d start documenting my journey to learning song leadership! I took Grace Oedel and Heidi Wilson’s song leadership training a few weeks back and now I basically sing everywhere i go and ask anyone i can to sing with me. 😬🤘

I’ve learned so much in a short period of time and realized this morning I’d like to sing for yall! What I’m learning at this moment is how to keep a beat for the other folks learning the song with either snapping or stomping while not throwing myself off beat. This part is hard for me!

I feel so much resistance towards making content about my business here on this platform but singing to you?? sharing stories about how I’m raising my children through this capitalist hellscape? yeah those are some things i feel at ease creating for ig.

Money!! gahhhhh.

Why is it so hard to deal with??
And also… can we just evolve into a money-less economy already??

Unfortunately… we currently have to navigate it.
Especially if you run a business.

And most of us are doing that without real tools—just guessing, avoiding, or crossing our fingers that it’ll work out.

We talk about things like how people get paid, billionaires, abolition, housing access, health care and fairness. Kids often see through systems adults treat as normal.

These videos model age-appropriate ways to talk with children about the world — including systems like capitalism that shape our lives but rarely get explained to kids. Children have a strong sense of fairness, and when we slow down and answer their questions honestly, a lot of so-called “complex” ideas become pretty simple.

Curious engagement welcome.
Agitating or nasty comments will be deleted and blocked. ✌️

Bo (age 6) and I (age 41) have embarked on a project for you. Bo asks daily questions about economics, politics, power, culture, and all manner of other things. And I answer his questions, constantly.

Together we’ve decided to capture many of these moments for you in hopes that it inspires you to have these conversations with the humans in your life. And to show you that although some of the topics are secret and overwhelming, we still can navigate them with clarity and age appropriateness.

This conversation was about why many other folks speak more than one language while most white folks in the US only speak English. Enjoy!

It feels basically impossible to do marketing right now while the world burns and we bomb fu***ng children in Iran. and also I have to believe in a world after this pain and suffering.

There are a lot of really mixed up sh*tty feelings around selling the stuff you do and the products you make. and also, you have mouths to feed and lights to keep on and work to do.

For many small business owners our business is our act activism. It is our resistance and it is hopefully our joy. I hope to hold space for all of this during these six weeks coming up.

This series is designed to walk us through relationship building infrastructure options that will be around for a while versus quick fixes and algorithm nonsense.

The series is sliding scale as always, and that scale starts at zero dollars. I hope you join us next week!
