Unfortunately, the homeowner took a nasty fall when one of the steps on her attic stairs failed. While we usually suggest replacing the whole stair assembly, the cost in this particular instance would have been almost 5x the price of the repair.

Cut a new step, added a slip-resistant finish for safety, and tested/adjusted the entire ladder. These should be good for many more years.

The results: a beautiful whitewash that maintains the unique characteristics of the brick. We re-stained the mantle to match the vintage look and painted the hearth a deep brown to complete the look.

It's amazing how a few tweaks can change the look of your space. Swapped out an old powder gray toilet for a more modern look. The vanity was rough, but a new one wasn't in the budget. I installed some slot wall paneling, a brushed nickel toilet paper holder and hardware for the vanity. Brand new look at a fraction of the cost.

Good example of when it makes sense to repair rather than replace an appliance: we replaced the drum seal, rollers, belt, and duct on this older dryer. The repair was way less than the price of a new dryer, and should give the owner many more years of service.
