XISP-Inc and the Space Development Foundation have been tilting at the quest to determine what should become of the ISS for some time. While a straight-up commercial transfer is a simple concept, it may not survive the trauma of the bureaucratic machinations required to accomplish the same.
However, a public/private consortium that is responsible for making the transition and subsequent evolution both technically and financially tractable is. Regardless of the number and nature of the evolutionary steps involved, mass on orbit has value in many forms; charred metal at the bottom of the Pacific ocean has none essentially. The evolution of the ISS, be it by growth, transformation in functions, parting out/diaspora, cultural/historical artifact, raw materials, or combination of any if not all of the above, has value.
Some more specific functions/applications include serving as: a Technology Development, Demonstration, and Deployment testbed platform, a construction shack, a safe haven, or even a source for additive manufacturing feedstock. Any individual or entity willing and able to participate in the mission development consortium to accomplish a better outcome for ISS should be in touch.
Don't wait for the Future, help us build it!
