The last two weeks were a reminder of why I love this work.

We’ve officially wrapped up both Mastering Fundraising Events and Mastering Nonprofit Sponsorships, and I want to say thank you to everyone who joined me.

These sessions were filled with thoughtful questions, honest conversations, and real nonprofit challenges. The kind of work that doesn’t rely on hype, but on clarity, structure, and better decision-making.

What stood out most was how many organizations are ready to move away from “we’ve always done it this way” and toward more intentional planning.
Not more effort.
Better effort.

Thank you to everyone who showed up prepared, open, and willing to look at their events and sponsorships through a more strategic lens.

The work doesn’t end with the training, but the foundation is now in place. And that’s where real progress starts.

I worked with a museum client on their gala last year, helping them rethink not just the event, but how they approached sponsorships.

As they started planning again this year, something clicked.

They have a large staff.
They spend a significant amount each year on employee benefits.
They’ve had a long-standing relationship with their benefits provider.

And yet, they had never asked them to sponsor the gala.

So they did.

No complicated proposal.
No awkward pitch.
Just a clear, confident ask grounded in an existing relationship.

The answer was yes.

This is what happens when organizations stop treating sponsorship as cold asking and start seeing it as relationship-based revenue.

Often, the strongest sponsors are already in your ecosystem. They’re just hiding in plain sight.
