A lady & a fern. These plants exhibit selective growth habits, thriving only in specific locations where conditions are precisely right, including soil, light, and moisture. The Northern Oak Fern and the Pink Lady Slipper, shown below, were spotted in a Hemlock-Balsam Fir-Black Ash Seepage Swamp, a unique forested wetland featuring a closed canopy and wetland characteristics. 🔥 Fire Season 2026 🔥

🍃Spring has FINALLY sprung! 🍃

This is a fantastic time of year in the woods to experience spring ephemerals like Hepatica in this photo. Hepatica is a rich-site indicator, signifying you're in a nutrient-dense area. Timber quality and species diversity are usually high in areas where hepatica grows. We will savor the coming weeks when these and other spring wildflowers make their fleeting appearance! 🍃

Winter views ❄️

It’s been a productive winter. The cold temps have fueled our progress, enabling us to complete 6 logging projects, with more on the horizon. This season's conditions have been a welcome change after years of unseasonable warmth and rain. As we eagerly anticipate spring, we're making the most of this ideal winter weather. It will be nice to ditch the snowshoes, though 😎
