Our supplier partner, Metatissue, is engineering human protein-derived biomaterials designed to better replicate the native human microenvironment. The new hPCMA platform contains a 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘅 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗖𝗠-𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 that goes far beyond conventional single-component biomaterials.

Several types of collagen were identified in hPCMA, including fibrillar collagens (I and III) and non-fibrillar collagens (IV and VI), which may contribute to the 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸-𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 of scaffold materials, respectively. Key glycoproteins involved in 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹–𝗘𝗖𝗠 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 were also detected, including fibrillin, fibronectin, laminin, tenascin-like protein, and fibrinogen. Proteoglycan 2 was identified among the proteoglycans.

Due to its complex composition, 𝗵𝗣𝗖𝗠𝗔 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, providing a biologically relevant platform that supports more physiologically relevant cellular responses compared to single-component or highly reductionist biomaterials. 🧫
