Today starts National Hurricane Preparedness Week, so now is the time to review what hazards hurricanes can create here locally, as well as prepare your home & family for the upcoming season. Hurricanes are not just a coastal problem! Impacts from wind and water can be felt hundreds of miles inland, and significant impacts can occur regardless of the storm’s strength. Know if you live in an area prone to flooding, if you live in an evacuation zone, and identify any structural weaknesses in your home. The most active months for tropical systems are August, September and October. However, hurricanes have impacted our state as early as May and as late as November! Today is Day 2 of Hurricane Preparedness Week!

The best time to prepare for hurricanes is BEFORE hurricane season begins. Avoid having to rush through potentially life-saving preparations by waiting until it’s too late. Get your disaster supplies while the shelves are still stocked, and get that insurance checkup early, as flood insurance requires a 30-day waiting period.

STEAMY SATURDAY! 🥵 For the first time this year, several Florida cities will have a heat index or feels like temp of 100° on Saturday before a cool front. Think of it as a summer sneak preview!

1 MONTH AWAY 🌀 Hard to believe, but the 2026 Hurricane Season is coming up on June 1st. The current early outlook is for the number of storms to be below average or near average. Colorado State University is calling for 13 storms, 6 hurricanes and 2 major hurricanes.

Long-range models are showing that we have will have a strengthening El Niño, potentially strong, by the peak of the season. Historically, if that occurs, that would create higher wind shear across the Tropical Atlantic and Caribbean…helping to suppress or lower tropical activity. That doesn’t mean, however, you can’t have major hurricanes or US landfalls. Remember, it’s about impact, not just the number of storms.

Although I won’t be on TV this hurricane season, that doesn’t mean I won’t be with you. I’ll be able to provide even more updates than ever before on multiple online and digital platforms. You can always trust me to be with you every step of the way all season long 24/7 with no hype, just the facts!

In the Florida heat, eventually is too late.

Did you know that mold can begin to grow in as little as 48 hours after an A/C failure or a minor leak? In Southwest Florida, our humidity does not give you a second chance.

Many homeowners rely on a well-meaning neighbor to keep an eye on things, but if they only stop by once a week, a small drip on Monday becomes a full-scale remediation project by Wednesday. At Carefree Home Watch, we understand the 48-hour window. Our professional inspections catch A/C malfunctions and slow leaks hidden from the untrained eye.

Don't leave your Cape Coral home to chance. Entrust it to the professionals who are trained to spot the signs before they become structural nightmares.

Protect your investment today.

Think 78 degrees is the safety zone for your vacant Florida home? Think again.

In Southwest Florida, temperature is only half the battle; humidity is the real enemy. Relying solely on your thermostat is a dangerous gamble. High humidity, clogged condensate lines, and mechanical blind spots can lead to mold even when the temperature seems safe.

A digital reading is no substitute for a professional physical inspection. At Carefree Home Watch, we catch the small issues before they become expensive nightmares. Entrust your home to local experts who stay vigilant when you cannot be there.
