This is the hardest thing running my own business… I have to think several months ahead at the same time as trying to live in the now!!

I’m sure my fellow service based business owners understand this and so I thought I would be the bad guy today and remind people…. If you want to tackle your mental and physical load this Fall…

This is kid specific but could apply to everyone. When you are gearing up for a new season (for us it’s back to school)… SHOP YOUR HOUSE.

I live a self proclaimed decluttered life and I STILL have saved school supplies that my kids might use this upcoming year.

Hot tip: rubbing alcohol can remove permanent marker from some things (hard plastic for sure).

Starting with small habits shifts is the way we grow systems in our home. One of the most wise things I heard in the process of doing this work was from Kendra Adachi (gasp, said no one). She was talking about rhythms and chores and how house stuff never ends… it’s something that you have to get into a rhythm and that is how you are successful. You will never come to the end of laundry, dishes, cleaning, etc.

Decluttering doesn’t end either. You have to build habits into your life after the initial process work with an organizer. The small habit shifts are what support that work. If you aren’t regularly putting things away or creating calm space for yourself, you won’t know what doesn’t belong anymore.

We talk about this a lot while we work together. I’m so excited to report that clients are finding success AFTER I leave—- I will always help you. And the point of my work is to get to a stopping point and empower you to make your home function best for YOU.

This is SO obvious but it doesn’t always happen, as evidenced by the actual real life footage of my home with open things! Gah!

This is one of those really small details that makes a big difference.

Did you know that I work with more than just overwhelmed moms? Although my client list is mostly women it’s important to note that the work of finding out what helps you feel more YOU, isn’t gendered. We (the collective) are fed a lot of stories about a lot of things- my mission is to break the patterns and help people dive into what matters for them and their people.

I worked with my husband to go through his seasonal swap and it ended up being a lot more about what was “worn”— in both senses of the word. What hasn’t been worn in a long time because something better came along. What is too worn out to actually wear anymore.

There were some moments but he suggested we take a picture at the end so everyone knows we successfully worked together!

In honor of the 8th full moon of 2026 I thought I would share a bit about why this business is called “The Useful Witch”. Quite honestly, tapping into what you really need, turning down the noise of society and creating a space for you and your people that WORKS— feels like magic.

I don’t practice traditional witchcraft but I do ask people to dive into their intuition and stand up for what really matters to them— and somehow in this world that is a bit radical.

This is a very long form video but I wanted to walk you through one of those moments that I know you have had. When you walk into your house and it’s just SO MUCH. Things are out of place, you aren’t sure where to start, you want to zone out but you know that isn’t what you need to feel better.

Summer is summering over at my house. My kids also decided to swap/upgrade their rooms so we have a project underway. I realized I was really off- snappy, flustered, unorganized. This is my sign that my surroundings need a check in.

So- I stopped. Took the first part of this video. Set a timer. Put music in my ears. I started right where I walk in and went through the first floor methodically. Putting things away, moving them to where they go, putting things in zones, etc.

15 minutes later the results are exactly what I needed. Projects contained, dishes contained, bits and bobbles put away, laundry in motion.

I want summer to be the best, but for me, I need a reset every once in a while so I can be my best too.
