Instead, the story shows up in the details.

Changes in lithology.

Your truck is prepared for **three seasons of weather**, you own enough safety glasses to outfit a small crew, and at some point you've looked at a gas-station hot case and thought, *“Yep. That's dinner.”*

And let's not even pretend there isn't a **preferred porta-potty** on location. You know which one it is. Rigby knows which one it is. We all know. 😂

A good shift handoff doesn't need to be a novel. It needs to communicate what changed, what you're seeing, what matters, and what needs attention next.

Because “some weird stuff happened around 3 a.m.” isn't quite the geological summary Rigby was hoping for. 😂

🪨 Technical Tuesday: What Are Cuttings Actually Telling Us?

They may look like little pieces of rock, but cuttings can tell a much bigger story.

Collected consistently and examined carefully, cuttings give our geologists a real-time look at the formations being drilled. Changes in lithology, grain size, texture, mineralogy, fossils, alteration, and other characteristics can help identify formation changes and add valuable geological context to the other data coming from the well.

The real value comes from putting those observations together.

Collect the samples.

Spend enough time at a wellsite and eventually you forget that oilfield language sounds absolutely unhinged to everyone else. 😂

“We’re making hole.”

“How’s the gas?”

“We’re sliding.”

“What are the shakers doing?”

“Did you catch the sample?”

Meanwhile, everyone on location just nods like this is a perfectly reasonable conversation.
