From Builder Concept to Construction Drawings

This shop/cottage was designed by my builder client, and I provided the detailed construction drawings to help bring the design to life.

Using Revit, I create detailed floor plans, exterior elevations, and 3D renderings that help builders and clients visualize the project before construction begins.

The 3D model also allows us to work through design details and coordinate the building as a complete project—not just a collection of 2D drawings.

This custom mountain home (rendering) was designed specifically for a property on the east side of the Sandia Mountains in Cedar Crest, New Mexico.

Modern architecture, passive solar principles, expansive mountain views, and rooftop solar all come together in a home designed to fit both the land and the lifestyle.

This custom home was designed by one of my builder clients. My role is turning that vision into detailed construction drawings that contractors can build from.

To help visualize the finished project, I placed my Revit model into a realistic North Carolina mountain setting—and suddenly those drawings become much more than lines on a screen.

It's one of my favorite parts of the process.

Coming along!

Really enjoying the process of bringing these old paper plans back to life. What started as a stack of drawings from my custom home building days is turning into a fully built-out 3D model in Revit.

It’s interesting seeing how these designs translate with today’s tools—and catching details I never would have seen back then.

Still some work to do, but it’s taking shape. Looking forward to sharing the finished model alongside photos of the actual home soon.

Going through some old paper house plans from my custom home building days (early 2000s), I came across a few designs I hadn’t looked at in years.

It got me thinking—why not bring them back to life?

I’ve started turning these original hand-drawn or modified plans into full 3D models in . It’s been a fun project revisiting these homes with a fresh perspective and modern tools.

Once they’re complete, I’ll be sharing the 3D versions side-by-side with photos of the actual homes.
