CANTON, OH — In a historic expansion of this physical and trauma-informed initiative, the Ohio Department of Youth Services (DYS) hosted its 2026 Unity CrossFit Games at the prestigious Hall of Fame Village in Canton.

In June, we had the privilege of hosting our Second Annual CrossFit Unity Games! This year, we were honored to partner with the Pro Football Hall of Fame, who graciously hosted this incredible event.

The Unity Games are all about bringing first responders and youth together through the power of competition. It's an opportunity to showcase physical strength, build mental resilience, foster meaningful relationships, and have fun in a supportive, encouraging environment.

A huge thank you to the Ohio Department of Youth Services for the tremendous amount of planning and logistical support that made this event possible. We're also incredibly grateful to 1st Phorm and Jocko Fuel for your generous donations, which helped us provide an outstanding experience for our athletes.

We're already looking forward to next year! 💪🏆

Debbie had an amazing visit with the team at an Emerge Recovery and Trade Initiative today! Emerge is filling a huge need in the prevention space by providing recovery support, housing, and workforce training for youth leaving incarceration or moving out of the foster care system. Expanding Horizons is excited for the opportunity for future partnership in bring our joint missions of prevention and recovery together through the power of community and fitness!

The 2026 Unity Games is in the books - what an incredible day!!! We are so grateful to all the administrative staff at ODYS, the Pro Football Hall of Fame event staff, and our Expanding Horizons coaches and volunteers. And of course, we today wouldn’t have been possible without all the first responders who took their whole day to support, encourage, and workout (suffer!) alongside our athletes. A special thanks goes out to Lt. Governor Jim Treasel, ODYS Director Amy Ast, and Antonio Smith, formerly of the Ohio State Buckeyes & 2015 Super bowl 50 Champions, the Denver Broncos.

The Unity Games is all about bringing people together in the spirit of perseverance, teamwork, and community. We certainly witnessed those principles at work today and we are incredibly blessed to have been a part of making this happen!

This past weekend we had the honor of presenting at the 2026 Ohio School Safety Summit. We love to share the purpose and impact of Expanding Horizons! It is our mission to use physical exercise to directly benefit both the mental and physical health of youth through achievements and consistency in the gym, surrounded by a supportive community.

DYS supports the Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative (JDAI) as it helps communities safely reduce unnecessary youth detention while connecting youth to supportive, community-based alternatives.

Clark County, Ohio is helping youth build confidence through a local CrossFit program – BB Fitness 937. It offers structured workouts and mentorship to support positive growth. With capacity to serve up to eight youth at a time, participants can earn incentives like gym memberships to continue their progress beyond court involvement.

Today marks three years working with the youth at Cuyahoga Hill Juvenile Correctional Facility! We are so honored and privileged to work with the incredible administration, staff, and our local coaching team. We look forward to many more years working together and a legacy of positive change, growth, and resilience in the youth of Ohio that we are able to impact.
