Donate Life Month 💚

Because of our special donor, Dad is proudly wearing his “Gamecock Dad” shirt—celebrating the blessing of seeing our son in his Master’s program at University of South Carolina.

For me, it’s a full-circle moment as an alumna. ❤️🖤

Milestones like this—college journeys, family pride, simply being here to witness it—are things many take for granted. For us, they are sacred gifts.

We are forever grateful for the gift of life and the legacy of our donor.

Register today. Say yes to life.

A Leadership Lesson on Genuine Support

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned in both leadership and life is this:
Not all support is the same.

There are people who support you when your work directly benefits them, when you are aligned with their goals, contributing to their success, or operating within their space.

And then there are those who support you, your growth, your evolution, and your next steps—even when it takes you beyond their reach.

That’s the difference between situational support and genuine support.

As professionals, leaders, and entrepreneurs, we must learn to recognize the difference:
-Genuine supporters don’t withdraw when your direction changes
-They don’t compete with your growth
-They don’t limit their encouragement to convenience

Instead, they celebrate your next move—because they value you, not just your role.

As you continue to grow, pay attention to who remains consistent in your corner. That consistency is not only rare, it’s valuable.

And just as importantly, be that kind of supporter for others.

Support that is sincere doesn’t have conditions.

Keep shining. ✨

Standing on history. Witnessing legacy.

While in Chicago this week, I had the opportunity to visit the future home of the Obama Presidential Center—and I was in awe.

The tower alone is breathtaking… a symbol rising with purpose, strength, and story.

To witness the legacy of Barack Obama—the first African American president—being etched into history in such a powerful way filled me with pride.

This is more than a building…
It’s a reminder of what’s possible.
It’s a testament to vision, perseverance, and purpose.

And to stand there and see it coming to life… unforgettable.

Grateful for a wonderful time of fellowship with my UW Stout colleagues at the HLC Conference!

Dr. Wentz and I had the opportunity to co-present, and it was truly rewarding to share insights together. Beyond the sessions, we enjoyed some great Chicago-style pizza and meaningful conversations.

Those moments of downtime—connecting outside of Teams squares—remind me how important it is to build relationships beyond the work itself. Strong teams are built on both collaboration and connection.

What an invigorating day at the Black Expo 2026 in Charleston, SC!

I had the privilege of volunteering with We Are Sharing Hope SC as an advocate for organ donation—an issue that is very personal to me and my family. Every opportunity to raise awareness and encourage others to consider the gift of life matters.

I also had the chance to hear some powerful motivational insights from the amazing Dawn Staley. Her words about leadership, perseverance, and purpose were truly inspiring.

And of course, reconnecting with old friends and colleagues made the day even more special. Grateful for spaces like this that bring community, service, and inspiration together. 💚

Enjoying the learning, networking, and encouragement from peers at the South Carolina Association for Institutional Research (SCAIR) conference.

I’ve been a part of this organization for more than 15 years, and it continues to be a meaningful professional community for those of us committed to strengthening higher education through data, assessment, and institutional effectiveness.

This year we had 25 South Carolina institutions represented, sharing ideas, best practices, and solutions that help our campuses move forward.

I’m also incredibly honored to have been nominated to serve as the 2026–2027 President of SCAIR. I look forward to continuing the work of building stronger collaboration, expanding engagement across the state, and supporting the important work of institutional research professionals.

Grateful for the colleagues, conversations, and continued learning.

Women’s History Month: The Pursuit of Personal Excellence

Women’s History Month is a time to celebrate the women who paved the way—but it is also a moment to reflect on the responsibility we carry to keep building.

Throughout my journey as a leader in higher education, consultant, mentor to doctoral students, and woman of faith, one lesson has remained constant: personal excellence is a decision we make every day.

Excellence is not a title, a position, or an award.
It is a mindset.

It means:
✨ Choosing growth over comfort
✨ Leading with integrity when no one is watching
✨ Lifting others as you climb
✨ Turning life’s hardest seasons into purpose and testimony

As women, we often carry many roles—leader, mentor, caregiver, wife, mother, friend. I have learned that excellence is not about perfection in all roles, but about showing up with purpose in the roles God has assigned to us.

In my work mentoring doctoral students, developing leaders, and speaking about performance excellence, I often remind others that champions for excellence are not born—they are developed through discipline, faith, and resilience.

And sometimes the most powerful excellence is quiet:
• the prayer whispered before a difficult meeting
• the encouragement given to someone ready to quit
• the perseverance to keep going when the path isn’t clear

Women’s history is filled with extraordinary leaders, but it is also filled with everyday women who chose to live with courage, faith, and excellence.

My encouragement to every woman this month is simple:

Lead. Inspire. Fuel. Transform.

Because when a woman commits to personal excellence, she doesn’t just change her own life—she elevates everyone around her.

When someone says they don’t understand why we have a dedicated time to celebrate Black History Month, I gently recognize something…

They may not understand or relate to the struggle that made it possible for us to work together, worship together, learn together, and serve together.

History is not about division.
It’s about acknowledgment.
It’s about context.
It’s about honoring the cost.

The freedoms many experience as normal were once protested, prayed for, marched for, and paid for.

Until we get to heaven, there will be differences among us — cultural, historical, experiential. The goal isn’t to erase those differences. It’s to recognize them, appreciate them, and grow from them.

And sometimes, celebration requires reflection. Reflection sometimes requires honesty. And honesty may require acknowledging wrongs in order to truly move forward together.

Black History Month is not about exclusion.
It’s about inclusion — making sure the full American story is told.

Yes, wear the outfit. Represent the history!
But let it be a commitment, a commitment to always celebrate the differences that make us one.

We honor the legacy.
We acknowledge the journey.
We commit to excellence because of those who laid the foundation. ❤️🖤💚

I’m honored to be featured in the March 2026 issue of Student Affairs Today, highlighting my session at the Assessment Institute on assessing personal leadership excellence.

In student affairs and higher education, we often focus on assessing programs, outcomes, and student success — all critically important work. But leadership excellence also requires intentional self-assessment. When leaders align their values, strategy, and service to others, they strengthen not only their own effectiveness but the impact of their teams and organizations.

The Champion for Excellence approach encourages leaders to:
• Clarify their vision and priorities
• Lead with integrity and purpose
• Focus on service to stakeholders
• Reflect daily on growth and alignment

As I often say, excellence is not an achievement , it’s a continuous journey.

Grateful to the Assessment Institute community and Student Affairs Today for capturing and sharing this work.

I saw 2030 written on a document today and had to pause. 😳Growing up in the 20th century, that year felt like science fiction — impossibly far away. Now it’s just four years from today.

Time has a way of reminding us what truly matters.

Value your time.
Make full use of your gifts.
Invest in what lasts.
Love the people God has placed in your life.
Walk boldly in your purpose — today, not someday.

The future isn’t far away anymore — it’s being built right now.
