I remember watching Baby Boom and Working Girl as a kid and thinking, one day, that’ll be me.

Those movies showed women beating the odds, going against the grain, pushing limits, and owning their power—and I ate it up.

Sure, I originally thought I’d be rocking a cradle in my high-rise office as an international business attorney. But even when I shifted to psychology in college, I did it with all my might.

I’ve had mostly male bosses throughout my career, but I’ve loved watching so many women rise in ABA leadership. Seeing women break the rules, challenge the norms, and lead with confidence in this field makes me proud to be one of them.

So as International Women’s Day approaches, here’s a big round of applause for every woman in ABA:

The ones refusing to stay in the box.
The ones mentoring, guiding, and lifting others up.
The ones pushing this science forward in places no one thought it could go.

May we all keep playing dress-up in our mom’s shoes and lipstick, dancing around the room, and rocking out to “She Works Hard for the Money.” Because we do. And we deserve every bit of what we’ve built.

Happy International Women’s Day to my fellow badasses.
