FUN FACT FRIDAY: The Mars Family created this candy back in the 1930’s. Frank Mars was already aware of a candy that had nuts, caramel and nougat but he felt like there was one last ingredient to make it special. He added chocolate to the candy and that is how the Snickers was created. The Mars family owned 3,000 acres of land that they called “Milky Way Farms”. There was many horse on that farm, one of which was the favorite of Ethel Mars (Frank Mar’s wife) named Snickers. That is how the name of the candy was created. Funny thing about that is, from 1967-1990 folks over in the UK called this candy “The Marathon Bar”. Snickers was the official sponsor of 2 Olymipc games: Los Angeles-1984 & Beijing-2022. Mars ability to make Snickers one of the top candy bars in the world is due to their consistency over many years, a snickers bar has exactly 16 peanuts in it.
