It's actually not admirable or compassionate to step aside and let someone lacking the necessary experience and expertise to take the lead - especially when you have said experience and expertise.

They will end up costing your company and team both time and money.

Instead, step up and model how to navigate the situation. Then, they can learn from you and gain the necessary experience to one day hold the expertise they so terribly are seeking.

A pervasive opportunity facing many of my clients right now is creating not the perception, but the reality that they are high performers and achievers.

This means no longer attempting to do it all, be it all, and have it all, but to let go the fallacy that high performer are everything to everyone and instead focus on being the best you can be in your personal area of expertise.

Remember that advice always comes through a lense. Be sure the one yours is coming through is experienced and innovative.

It's easy to feel the need to be involved in everything that's going on. And, when we do that, we limit both our time and our ability to positively impact change in everything.

Take a look at your responsibilities, your expertise, and your career path. Say yes to tasks, meetings, and opportunities that support effectiveness in your current position while also preparing you for growth. Say no to everything else.

Trying to do it all will only burn you out and hold you back - even though it doesn't always feel that way in the beginning.

"Why are you always questioning my value, knowledge, and expertise?"

It's easy to go there when that one person literally challenges everything you do and say - especially when they have a completely different area of expertise.

Instead of letting them pull you into their misery, shift your perspective. See them not as someone pulling you down, but as someone making you a better version of yourself!
