🎯 Today’s Lesson: Short-Term Rentals vs. Long-Term Rentals

One of the questions I get all the time is:

“What’s the difference between a short-term rental and a long-term rental?”

Let’s keep it simple.

🏠 Long-Term Rental
Think of a traditional apartment or house.

✅ One tenant signs a lease.
✅ They usually stay 6–12 months (or longer).
✅ You collect rent once a month.
✅ More consistent and predictable.
✅ Less day-to-day management.

Example: A family rents your home for $2,000 per month.

🛏️ Short-Term Rental
Think Airbnb, VRBO, or vacation rentals.

✅ Guests stay a few days or a few weeks.
✅ You charge by the night.
✅ More guest turnover.
✅ More cleaning and management.
✅ Can produce higher income in the right market.

Example: Instead of renting for $2,000 a month, you might rent for $175 a night. If booked consistently, the monthly income could be higher—but so are the responsibilities.

💡 Neither strategy is “better.”
The best strategy depends on:

• Your goals
• Your market
• Your budget
• How involved you want to be
