(finished) this is ginko! ginko means "silver fox" in japanese plainly, but in folklore they are silver fox kitsune that serve the goddess Dakini, an important deity in buddhism. i love to find short but meaningful names for my mounts, which unfortunately means sometimes they go a while without a name, because i want it to be just right. but i think about it a lot! he's a super soft guy, part of me really wanted to make him semi poseable but i'm pretty happy with how he came along. the way i attached his head, it's actually able to swivel! his head can turn any position. his tail, like my marble fox kiko, is floppy. i like how they move with gravity and fall naturally when they lay/pose. anyways, here he is! coming next will be my wolf/coywolf softie, i haven't posted him since i've been meaning to finish his airbrushing, but he is complete otherwise.

(wip) i was going to add a song but instagram decided i can't add normal songs to posts on this account?? anyway... my silver fox! he is a small little guy only about the size of a wild red... but he is a ranchie!! i love him and his tiny little paws. his tail is such a big p**f compared to the rest of him. he had a lot of tears but he held up very nicely to mounting! in most of my mounts i end up having a moment of panic if i somehow ruined them before i finished. it is usually never the case LOL. the only main issues with this fellow was that in my angst i forgot to widen his lip line enough and it was difficult to tuck, and his ears would not sit in their slots (i struggle to get the earliners mounted and seated firmly in the form) but i believe he mounted up just fine and i was able to navigate it successfully. his only flaw currently is his eye... i have learned a valuable lesson with certain eyes, i used a spray bottle a lot while working on his face and thjs unfortunately managed to seep into his eye, causing separation between the glass and the eye backing! these eyes (not mine) are created by using a glass cabochon and digitally printed iris on paper, sealed in by resin. this unfortunately is not water tight though. the moisture seeped into his eye. this causes a silvery sheen that you can see only by some angles of viewing, like to the side! his eyes are also very shadowed by his eyelids so his bright gold, wide pupil eyes actually look very dark. there are so many things to consider and remember doing mounts! i can't even keep track of all of them, ive made checklists before and still somehow manage to miss things to add to it lol. but i just have to keep trying! anyways, that is most of my yap, won't say much in the next post of his final pics. i am behind on my mount posts lol. adding some hashtags for visibility to possibly make a sale on my rabbit!

Here I have a soft mounted fully poseable harlequin rabbit for sale, he was one of my first ever soft mounts and part of my learning process was being able to practice on him. He is able to stand on his hind legs (with proper balancing) and stand and lay in any position. His neck and every part of his body is wired except for his tail. His ears used to be poseable but do not hold up his ears anymore. You may still get them in some positions with some finagling. I hand made his eyes but due to still learning how to make them at the time one has a clouded silvery effect from the backing having separated. I am selling him as I need more room and would like to do another rabbit some day with what I've learned since making him.

I will gladly provide more pictures/videos if asked! Any questions are welcome!

I am asking $400 with free shipping anywhere within the US. I am located in North Carolina. I will not ship outside of the US. All transactions will go through PayPal Goods and Services for buyer protection. Thank you!

hello! i'm Fera, an amateur/beginner taxidermist/soft mount artist, self taught. i am 24 years old and have wanted to try taxidermy since i was very small! one of my main hyperfixations is taxidermy, as i have loved all things nature and vulture-culture related since i was very young. i have only recently been able to try this hobby for myself as i'm an adult, as of this Facebook post it has been about 1 year and a half of taxidermy! i also deal with chronic illness and other related conditions as well as mental, which can make it hard to do things, even the things i love (like this!). i am quite nervous on social media, as i suffer from pretty severe rejection-sensitive dysphoria. i self reflect on my process in the description of each post on how i can improve on my works for the future. like a diary of sorts! lots of verbage though. i am self taught, and it's honestly hard for me to even ask for advice sometimes as the answers often tonally feel hurtful (mostly my RSD) though it's also hard because i see so much criticism on taxidermy in general for others, when i really feel like we should try to hold each other up, yknow? guidance focused critiques! the goal i feel in each animal i work on is to capture its living beauty as well as i possibly can. and i make sure to only source animals from vendors i believe to be ethical. if you're curious on my ethics i would be happy to have a conversation with you! just no debates. i have spent lots of time researching various taxidermy techniques like splitting eyes, lips, nose and turning ears, as well as thinning eyes and lips and removing cartilage. inserting ear liners and tucking lips and even fleshing enough. i am unable to tan, or process any pelts myself until after they are tanned as per my living situation. i try to implement these steps as best as i can having no prior experience. i would like to get started selling a few mounts if i can, but most of my collection is mine, haha.

(finished) kiko all finished up!! some of the pics are before his pan pastels, because i had been unsure about applying them at all. but im quite happy with my decision to!! his ears even do the little trick thing that taxidermists do with the flashlights lol. i'm considering him for if/when i possibly enter a competition. i love him a whole lot, though i love all my mounts a whole lot!! if i ever sell any, expect to receive questions like you're adopting a new pet lol. i forgot to mention 2 things, the escapade with his ear, and the cowlick on his nose. in turning them completely to the edge, i managed to blow out the edge of the ear somehow, biggest rip i've made. but it was only the edge! very easy fix. what wouldn't have been an easy fix, however, was accidentally dropping him when getting back from the expo. i placed him on the trunk of the car while grabbing the rest of my things and his soft smooth fur just slid him right off the car and right onto that ear 😭 and heard a sickening crunch. the ear liner broke in half almost horizontally. but did not tear the ear! imagine if i hadn't blew out the edge of the ear and still dropped him.. how would i have been able to access it to fix that?? a blessing and a curse. i glued the earliner and ear back together and it's not noticeable. a lesson to learn when handling taxidermy! he went all of the expo safely just to break at home, when i got home lol. but all is well. now, about the mark on his muzzle, he is unique because i believe he has a natural cowlick! i tried grooming back this lick of hair when he was rehydrated, and it just wasn't moving. i believe he may have had this since birth, each hair goes in a spiral pattern! i just thought it was unique and cool. i half wonder if his legs are a bit skinny, but he has relatively short fur there. i know that some foxes are just skinny legged like that, almost catlike. all in all i am very happy with him!

(wip) (WARNING - INVERTED PELT PICS SLIDES 8-9) this is my marble fox!! i have settled on the name kiko for him, as kiko are the followers of inari in japanese mythology. it took me a while to finally get the post together. i've been pretty busy! i have yet to do my formal completed mount post and i will do so after this one. some of my newer followers may recognize this guy from the oddities & curiosities expo! this guy received a LOT of attention, and many people i felt bad that i confused them into thinking i bought him from a booth there 😭 i think probably 10+ people asked me which booth i got him from. as someone who is quite introverted and not used to so much attention it was a unique and partially unexpected (but fun!) experience. i had completed his body in january and barely did not get to complete his head until the night before the event even though i had planned to bring him with me likely since january. the USPS lost the package with his eyes for almost 2 or 3 weeks and i was wondering if i would even receive it at all. so i had a bit of a rush in mounting him, but i managed to prep his head form, ear liners, clay the head, mount the ears, mount the face, pin him, add a bit of paint, mod podge, groom his fur, glue his wire neck and sew the hole in the span of around 12-15 hours! left the house with 2 pins in his face and i took them out on the escalator down to the event. now i understand what the rush that furries feel before cons is lol. i typically like to leave pins in longer but nothing has shifted or come loose and his lips are firmly tucked still. i am very happy with how he came out and feel the proudest of him of all of my work. his hair patterns could have been done a bit better but i had not quite realized they were off when doing him. the brow dots should sit evenly. a bit after the fact i added some pan pastels to his ears and toes to recreate the natural pinkish tones. he also received some in the corners of his eyes! the parts i am mostly unhappy with are his whiskers and nose, the whiskers i was unable to position properly and his nose was a bit too downturned as the pelt and form nose had somehow a gap between each other.
