I just want to bring passion to every photo I take, every moment I capture, every love story I see. But why photography? Why do I have a passion for it?

At 15 years young, I found myself in search of a hobby, and picked up a professional camera for the very first time. Little did I know how one seemingly insignificant decision would lead me towards one of my greatest passions. With some hard work (and plenty of trial and error), I started shooting families, seniors, engagements, and eventually my biggest dream of all, weddings. Well, have you ever heard lines like, “They grow up so fast!”, or “You’re only young and in love once.”? There’s a significant amount of truth to this. Moments don’t last forever. In fact, that’s the defining quality of a moment. They’re over in the blink of an eye. My goal is to preserve them with the “blink” of my camera shutter. It’s not only my goal but my privilege. Can we make posting one photo cool again? 😅

If not, at least I’m still cool 😏 my friends and family know I’m a dork at heart, and my clients eventually learn this, too!

But, I like to think those around me find it somewhat endearing. Hopefully my fall clients think so ;)

So so excited for this fall and all the pretty people I get to capture (on my camera, not kidnapping).

Some people (not all) think dramatic wedding photography is all deep tones and serioueness.

13 years later and the season changes.

My love and passion for photography have taken on new life over the years. From explosive passion to quiet admiration for it. At times, I lost sight of it. Here are a couple of changes I’m making to make the journey sweeter.

Turning my photography, my art, into content creation drains me. I’m not much of an influencer. I want to post my weddings, post when I feel inspired, and even jump on a social media trend if it speaks to me! Promoting my business is important, but the content creation rat race isn’t for me.

The comparison drained me. It would be overwhelming for any one of us to compare ourselves to hundreds of photographers in a week, all at the palm of our hand! I encourage all my fellow photographers to lean into your creativity, not into everyone else’s. Not because it’s bad, but because perhaps it’s not you. 🖤

Slowing down on everything photography helped me contemplate on my style, trying new things, and what I want my clients to experience during our time together, whether it’s branding, engagement, or studio.

I’m really looking forward to this season of shooting and what the years ahead look like for Jordan G Photography. 🖤
