Today I pulled the mandible from the buck I killed yesterday morning. I have aged him at 3.5 years old. While I am a bit disappointed that he was not the mature deer I thought he was, it leads me to a point. If this buck is 3.5, just wait until the 4.5 and 5.5 year old bucks start hitting the ground. The best is yet to come...

November 19th. My favorite day of the year to be in the woods. It seems like every descent or big buck I have ever killed was on this date. This is the first deer killed on the new farm, and I could not be much happier. I jumped him working a scrape, and he chose the open field, Instead of cover. That proved to be a bad health decision. Around 200 lbs. Main frame 10, with two sticker points on his right base, to make it 12 scoreable points. Diligence pays off.

I had this buck within 50 yards this morning, about two minutes before shooting light. I could see my pins, but not thru my peep. Making a move on him this afternoon. Drew on him. (first time drawing on a deer this year.) Had to let it down.
