What pushes your buttons — and more importantly, how do you RESET them?

For Mary Elizabeth Murphy, that question has been decades in the making.

What started with something her mother brought to her attention became a lifelong pursuit of understanding our reactions, behaviors, and the choices we make when our buttons get pushed.

After 17 years of field-tested research, that work has grown into the RESET Your Buttons Model, Method & Mindset — a practical way to recognize what’s happening, reset, and respond differently.

🎙️ Follow along as we continue exploring the conversations, experiences, and tools that help us reset our buttons.

Afraid someone will steal your idea? Your real advantage might be something they can’t copy. 👀

A new episode of RESET Your Buttons is out now! 🎙️ Mary Elizabeth Murphy sits down with Bayo Fodeke, co-founder of FocalGroove, to talk about turning ideas into action—and why sharing what you know doesn’t have to mean losing your competitive edge.

Because having the idea is one thing. Following through when it gets difficult, learning from what doesn’t work, and genuinely caring for the people around you? That’s where the difference happens.

They also explore imposter syndrome, the pressure to look successful online, and how Bayo and the team at The Groove Studio helped Mary Elizabeth get past her hesitation and in front of the camera.

If you’ve been holding back your ideas, your knowledge, or your voice, this conversation is your nudge to take that next step.

Resilience isn’t just about making it through the hard seasons. It’s about what you carry with you when you come out on the other side.

The hospitality industry has weathered 9/11, the Great Recession, a global pandemic, and countless unexpected challenges in between. And through it all, there are still people who show up with a genuine heart for serving others.

In this conversation, Floyd Isley and Mary Elizabeth Murphy reflect on what it takes to navigate uncertainty, keep moving forward, and still care deeply about the people you serve.
Because sometimes resilience isn’t simply surviving what happened.

It’s refusing to lose the heart that made you care in the first place.

🎙️ From Season 1, Episode 2 of RESET Your Buttons with Floyd Isley.

What if the problem in your business isn’t your marketing, your team, or your technology…but the way all three are working together?

In S1E10 of RESET Your Buttons, Mary Elizabeth Murphy sits down with longtime marketing partner John Fuller of Phoenix Fire to talk about identifying the friction that keeps businesses from moving forward.

From brand clarity and company culture to accountability, silos, trust, and team alignment, John shares why fixing one isolated problem often isn’t enough.

Sometimes the issue you can see is only the symptom.

The real question is: what’s happening inside the system?

🎙️ Tune in to “The Friction Auditor” to learn how a systems approach can help uncover what’s really holding your organization back—and what to do about it.

Your brand isn’t just what your customers think it is.

It’s what your team understands it to be, too.

If you ask two people inside the same company what the brand stands for and get two completely different answers, that disconnect can show up everywhere: in your messaging, your customer experience, and your ability to deliver on the brand promise.

In this conversation on RESET Your Buttons, John Fuller of Phoenixfire breaks down why internal clarity matters and how identifying friction can help create stronger alignment across your organization.

Because before your team can consistently deliver the brand, they have to understand the promise behind it.

🎙️ S1E10: “The Friction Auditor” with John Fuller OUT NOW!

What changes when you move from the “I have to” lane into the “I get to” lane?

The responsibility may be the same, but the mindset is completely different.

Sometimes, the pressure is not coming from what we have to do—it is coming from the button that situation is pushing. When we learn to recognize and disarm that button, we can respond with more intention and see the opportunity in front of us.

Mary Elizabeth Murphy reminds us that resetting your buttons is not about ignoring what needs to be done. It is about choosing how you move through it.

Which lane have you been living in lately?
