We celebrated 8 years at Social Grit this year. 🎉

The last couple years have been super busy with client work, travel, events, and–on a personal level–having a baby.

I feel so fortunate to be able to work with amazing clients and do this every day. I appreciate all of the support for our business. It has been incredible connecting with so many of you over the last 8 years, and I can't wait to connect with many more creatives in 2025 and beyond.

When you're focusing on your brand, think about it from the outsider's perspective. Does your product or service follow through with what you're promoting? Do you connect and make your audience feel included in the conversation? Are you making things right when there's a negative experience?⁠

Have you heard of the 80/20 rule? Also known as the Pareto Principle, it states that 80% of outcomes (output) result from 20% of causes (input) for any given event.⁠

When we think of this in terms of business, the goal of the 80/20 rule is to identify actions/inputs that are the most productive and make them the priority.⁠

Audit your priority list for the week. Often, tasks that we think are "moving the needle" are actually just keeping us busy, and thus holding us back from efficiency.

🤔 Is "perfection" crushing your business? ⁠

We've all fallen into the trap of expecting nothing less of "perfection." Of course, nobody wants to push out a product, service, or even a social media post before it meets a certain quality standard. ⁠

Remember that quality is often subjective.⁠

The truth is that while it's good to set a certain standard, striving for perfection will often force limitations.⁠

If you're pushing for perfection, it's likely that you're spending 80% of your time getting that final 20% of detail (and much of that may only be noticeable to you). Find the sweet spot where you're able to acknowledge what meets a reasonable standard, and let things like analytics and customer feedback dictate the quality. This will also allow you time for other areas in your business.
