The ADA's guidance on the need for radiographs to be prescribed and documented has not changed since the 2012 ADA/FDA collaborative paper, which still featured on the ADA website. Now, some insurers now trying to leverage these decades old ADA/FDA guidelines on radiographs as a reimbursement criteria. While true that this documentation should already be being done in offices, the ADA has made a formal statement condemning this action as an unfair burden to dentists. Read more here:
