✅ Step 1: Material Prep – Thread rolling is a cold forming process, so starting at the correct pitch mean and chamfering below the minor prevents excess material and roll damage.

✅ Step 2: Tool Setup – Mill a flat on the shank and set rolls with a gauge pin to the proper minor diameter based on material.

✅ Step 3: Machine Setup – Mount the tool and indicate the faceplate OD to maintain TIR within .005” for accuracy.

✅ Step 4: Setup Process – Run a test piece with proper pre-turn size, chamfer, feed rate, and sync tapping cycle to ensure clean threads.

✅ Step 5: Adjust Machine – Fine-tune minor, major, and chamfer after the first test roll to dial in final dimensions.
