Today is National Check The Chip Day!

National Check the Chip Day (August 15) exists for one reason: to remind owners to confirm their pet's microchip details are correct and current. Simply log in to your pet's microchip site and verify your details! (If we placed your pet's chip it will be here: https://www.petlink.net/account/member-login/)

So if your pet is ever lost, the microchip can be scanned and you can be contacted immediately. A lot can change since you first registered:

~A new address
~A new phone number
~A new email

If those details are out of date, it's harder for us to reach you if your pet is ever found.

Help us welcome Sarah Hanks, our NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine preceptor! She will be working alongside our team for the next month as part of her 3rd year veterinary course work.

My name is Sarah Hanks; I am a third-year vet student at NC State originally from Pittsboro, NC. I am following a mixed animal track and also have a strong interest in shelter medicine. One thing I love about veterinary medicine is the variety of things one person can see in a day. Vet med also allows me to get to know people in the community in addition to the animals, which I enjoy. In addition to coursework in school, I’m involved in the Christian Veterinary Mission, Shelter Medicine Club, Surgery Club, and the Small Ruminant Club on campus. Outside of school in my spare time (though limited) I enjoy most outdoor activities (fishing, paddle boarding, camping, etc.) and spending time with my husband and family dog. I also enjoy running and hiking — if anyone has trail suggestions, I’d love to hear them! After graduation I hope to move to the western part of NC. I’m looking forward to learning with DocTerra and getting to know the area!
