I was thinking about the high wintering success that hobbyists had this year. Don’t let that make you lazy. Plan this year like it’s going to be the hardest winter ever. This means multiple extreme temperature swings, bitter cold, warm spells, wind, etc.

Start thinking and planning how you are going to prepare to overcome the following things:

Mites
Cold
High humidity in the hive
Mice
Wind
Starvation

Any single one of these can be the straw that broke the camel’s back. This last winter was starvation due to consistently warm temps and increased bee activity for some.

In case you thought I stopped moving for a bit, I’ll be heading over to Laramie from Cheyenne Saturday, May 16. Let me know if you need anything. I believe I also have an available nuc over there so let me know if you are in need.

When you have one box that can’t seem to contain all of the bees, it’s time to check them. Here are a few shots of the nucs waiting to be picked up. I had to pull some frames of brood and some bees from a couple of them. The one in the first photo had several queen cells in it.

Next trip for these queens is shaping up. Friday, May 15. Also delivery of remaining nucs if pre-purchased. If you can get them to my route, I will also pick up Bee Buses and EZ Nucs.

From 330 to this in a day and a half.

Still have a few special circumstance pickups left and final inventory and I’ll know what I have for sale.

End of Season Mop-Up

I’ll be doing inventory soon and will have some nucs and colonies started from 2026 packages available.

I need to make a run from Cheyenne to Riverton and back in the next week or so. Exact timing and route not determined. If you need anything moved on or near this route, I might be able to work it in.

This may include bees, queens, hive hardware and equipment, pollen patties, mite treatment, hive visit, pickup of bee buses or EZ-Nuc boxes……

Reach out soon as additions will influence timing, route, and vehicle choice.
