Prairie Wind Bee Supply

Here is the schedule for Wyoming Bee College 2026 all in one view.

I was waiting for someone to come to their door today and noticed the bumblebees were going crazy on their Russian Sage. When planting, take note of what our native pollinators find appealing.

I had some help today delivering pollinators to the pumpkins at Windy Creek Farm this morning. Check out their schedule and put it on your calendar to attend the pumpkin patch and store. Hay maze is looking fun too.

Does the honey from your Caucasian colonies differ from your others?

I had the pleasure of spending time talking about bees with one of the local 4-H clubs. Thanks to Jordan Bishop with Wyo woodenware -everything beehives for the use of his materials and observation hive. The members enjoyed finding the queen.

06/07/2026

I was running low on queens so, on a whim, I ordered a couple of Buckfast queens. I don’t have any immediate need so I thought would make available to those who can pick up in Cheyenne.

They should be here Tuesday or Wednesday.

$48 each.

I also have a handful of other queens of different breeds.

$47 each.

I was thinking about the high wintering success that hobbyists had this year. Don’t let that make you lazy. Plan this year like it’s going to be the hardest winter ever. This means multiple extreme temperature swings, bitter cold, warm spells, wind, etc.

Start thinking and planning how you are going to prepare to overcome the following things:

Mites
Cold
High humidity in the hive
Mice
Wind
Starvation

Any single one of these can be the straw that broke the camel’s back. This last winter was starvation due to consistently warm temps and increased bee activity for some.

In case you thought I stopped moving for a bit, I’ll be heading over to Laramie from Cheyenne Saturday, May 16. Let me know if you need anything. I believe I also have an available nuc over there so let me know if you are in need.
