Had a dad ask today about organizing his two teenage son's rooms...here was my response:

1. I would ask them to be present and engaged with us to learn and “buy” into the process. We don’t do things for them. They have to help and be a part of the process.
2. Less stuff always helps. The more t-shirts, the more jerseys, etc the longer it takes for them to maintain the order. So we'd get rid of stuff.
3. Finally, without parent’s drawing boundaries (i.e. no screen time until laundry is put away. Or no phone until clothes are hung up) it will go right back to being a mess.

Any other advice from parent's of teens out there? 🙂

Watched a private screening tonight on a new documentary all about stuff… one woman’s journey with her aging parents- their stuff becoming her stuff. It was really well done. Watch for it on AARP if you’re a member or coming soon on PBS

It’s that time of year ladies… I just went through my closet and drawers and pulled anything I didn’t wear this last fall/winter. A dozen items are being donated. Get to it this month and ask yourself “did I wear it the last 4 months??” “ will I miss it?”
