Do you know someone who's an overthinker?
Oh yes I know some!!
Overthinking is a common trauma response often acting as a protective mechanism developed after experiencing unpredictable, unsafe, or abusive situations. It functions as an attempt to regain control, predict danger, and prevent future harm by obsessively analyzing situations " flight or freeze" behavior.
So, my people! when you spot an overthinker please be nice; validate their feelings to help protect their mental health.
This is how an overthinker works/communicates. One week one question, after 2 weeks two questions, then come back after one month with 1 or 2 questions.
Dang! There's trouble on their mental health already.
➡️Some healthy ways/tips to help an overthinker when communicating with you.
1) Set boundaries.
2) If they send a long, anxious message, reply with a short, polite, and neutral response to discourage spiraling conversations.
❌For a more crazier tip🤣
If they ask you a question tell them all the possible bad things that is happening around you, tell them how troubled you are, and watch them stop communication. Easy peasy😎!
