My prayer for this week is an expectations detox.

God, show me where I’ve been disappointed by an expectation I never communicated. Help me ask for what I need, listen to what others can actually give, and stop calling every mismatch a character flaw.

And when someone has shown me who they are, give me the clarity to believe them and adjust accordingly. Amen.

The company you keep matters. Proximity can influence your decisions, disturb your peace, and affect everything you’re building.

I’m learning to pay closer attention to alignment. Everybody can’t go where I’m going, and everybody doesn’t deserve access to what I’m building.

Yesterday, while visiting a client, I unexpectedly ran into someone I helped with his resume years ago when he was just getting started in his career.

And now? He is a DIRECTOR at a charter school in Chicago. 🥹

We took this selfie, and I walked away so damn proud.

I wish I could help everybody. I really do. Sometimes my schedule won’t allow it. Sometimes I have to say no. And sometimes that weighs on me.

But yesterday reminded me that I don’t have to help everybody to make a difference. I just have to keep helping who I can, when I can, with what I have.

And every now and then, God gives you a little glimpse of the impact.

Yesterday was mine. 💜

Lord, as I step into this week, please cover me, my businesses, and my peace.

Keep my clients compliant, their employees using common sense, and the words “urgent” far away from my inbox.

Fill every ATF class, move every unpaid invoice to PAID, and let every meeting end on time. Give me wisdom, patience, discernment, and the good sense not to respond too quickly.

Lord, bless the work of my hands and block every piece of foolishness before it reaches me.

In Jesus’ name, amen. 😂🙏🏾

Someone gave me this book, How Full Is Your Bucket?

At first, I thought about the work I do and how much of it involves helping leaders create workplaces where people feel seen, valued, and supported.

Then it hit me. This gift wasn’t really about my work.

It was a gentle way of saying, “I see how much you pour into everyone else, and I can see that you’re running low.”

And they’re right. I’m drained.

Sometimes we become so accustomed to being the strong one, the dependable one, the one who figures it out, that we don’t notice our own bucket is empty until someone else sees it.

So, I’m receiving the message. I don’t have to earn rest by completely falling apart. I can pause. I can say no. I can let someone pour into me without immediately trying to return the favor.

If you’ve been pouring from an empty bucket too, give yourself grace. You’re tired. You’re human. And you deserve to be replenished, too.

Job seekers AND recruiters…help me out. 👀

I’m working on something and doing a little research on job search sites that people are ACTUALLY using in 2026.

And I’m not talking about LinkedIn, Indeed, Monster, ZipRecruiter, etc. We know those.

I’m looking for the sites that are flying under the radar but actually have GOOD jobs.

It's happening! I finally got to choose my puppy! 🐶

Meet Prince. (Well... almost. 😊)

As I've been getting ready for his arrival, I've found myself thinking about something I talk to clients about all the time: Successful On-Boarding!!!

I've been puppy-proofing my home, buying supplies, thinking through routines, and making sure Prince has everything he needs to be set up for success from day one.

It reminds me so much of employee onboarding.

Too often, organizations spend weeks or even months finding the right person, only to expect them to "figure it out" once they start.

The best onboarding experiences, just like welcoming a new puppy home, require preparation, consistency, patience, and clear expectations.

Interestingly enough, I recently had a fascinating conversation on a podcast with Jackye Clayton, a dog behaviorist and talent management expert. We talked about the surprising similarities between dog behavior and employee behavior, and how both are shaped by the environment, consistency, communication, and leadership.

Whether you're welcoming a new employee or a new four-legged family member, success starts long before day one. Those who fail to plan...you know the rest!
