Financial Wellness for People with Disabilities Training Sessions
Sign up for the topic(s) that interest you -- or the entire series! Hear from fellow parents and self-advocates on important financial wellness topics impacting individuals with disabilities in Illinois. Presenters have been trained by the National Disability Institute's Financial Wellness curriculum and are Partners in Policymaking graduates, both investments of the Illinois Council on Developmental Disabilities. These sessions are free.

CREDIT MATTERS (Lisa McManus)Thurs., June 16 -- 10-11:15 AMCovers ways credit profiles are used in everyday life and includes an introduction to credit reports and scores and why they are important to people with disabilities. Learn what makes up a credit score and how scores can help a person save money.
HOUSING OPTIONS & SUPPORTS (Kish Pisani)Tues., June 21 -- 10-11:15 AMThere are lots of supports out there designed to help people with disabilities reach their housing goals, including owning a home! We'll cover housing options and the different supports available to help make decisions about the best housing to meet a person's needs.
SOCIAL SECURITY & WORK SUPPORTS (Teri Steinberg)Wed., June 29 -- 1-2:15 PMThis session covers the basics of the Social Security Administration -- the difference between SSI and SSDI and where and why people with disabilities can go to get information on how to protect their eligibility for cash payments and/or health care until and while they achieve employment goals.

This session also covers alternatives to guardianship and how it all impacts a person's financial picture.
