It’s been 135 days since the CargoWise CVP pricing updates rolled out. Like many forwarders, our world rocked for a minute - but in a good way.
The most surprising outcome? Customers “accidentally” billing their end clients for software access has quietly become a legitimate profit center. And rightly so. Why would WiseTech Global single-handedly absorb the cost of every ping down a value chain to a ship’s radar, where everyone else is making money? For example, a pharmaceutical company’s end clients who have been given access to by the freight forwarder using CargoWise. 📡
We had known this from the past prior to NEO days (when building our own tool), that they rack up fast - throttle redundant pings on vessels that haven’t moved much in 4-5 hours, or watch the costs stack up. Visibility has real cost. It should have real value too. 💸

Besides tracking, one should know moving freight doesn’t just mean tracking transit times, it also means finding the best route. For example knowing the “Strait of Hormuz” and its impact before it became popular! 😅
Most recent meetings we’ve joined to “turn off” billable CVP charges have turned into process change conversations. Turns out, this might just be the new normal - and a better one at that.
