Dunbar's number says that humans (and other primates) are able to hold relationships between groups of about 150 people. 150 is around where the human brain reaches its cognitive load.

In ancient Rome, the military divided up its soldiers into groups-- cohorts-- of 80 and 150 people.

Moreover, monkeys stay in groups of about 150. They maintain their relationships by social grooming. The monkeys groom each other by picking off knats and dirt of each other's fur and spend about 40% of their time doing so.

Social grooming among humans is said to function by gesture of human touch (such as handshakes), but also by language. Social groups are maintained by small talk and gossip, where humans mention each other to establish group cohesion. Allegedly, when communicating, humans spend about 40% of their time in social gossip.

People, fundamentally, have a desire to stay part of a group. Often, just acknowledging someone or saying their name is enough to make them feel like they're part of the group.

Creating groups for people is inherently valuable because it fulfills this innate desire.

Getting the most return out of your marketing largely depends on your structure. How are you structured? How is your business structured to communicate with customers and get them familiar with your products and services?
The smallest tweaks can make the biggest differences, but you have to direct your focus to where you are effective to create the biggest impact. Restructure the points of impact being mindful of where you're moving in the big-scheme. Where do you make the most impact?

Watch Your Cash Burn Rate

Cash burn rate is the rate your company uses up its cash reserves or cash balance. It's a measure of the net-negative cash flow.

How fast are you burning through your cash reserves? Or is your cash moving the other direction, building up a healthy balance from positive cash flow? That’s what this metric is designed to show you.

Marketing will be one of the largest expenses in your company, so it's important to have a process to manage your marketing budgets and have a stop-gaps in place so you don't burn out all of your cash reserves.

Unfortunately it's difficult to learn this lesson without having the pain of experiencing it yourself. Bankroll management will be the difference between success and total failure. Entrepreneurs usually have talent for big profits, but tend to lose it all in other areas they don't put attention towards.

Great managers are on top of key numbers first thing everyday. They're constantly reviewing reports and gathering information from the organization. Having a pulse on business activities and conditions is a precondition to making decisions and doing ANYTHING. Without it, you're trying to hit a small target you can't see by shooting off rounds in the dark. This isn't a good idea because ammunition (cash) is limited.

I can tell you all of the tactics in the world to make your conversions explode, but it won't matter if you burn out before your even get a chance to try them.

Scaling Up Your Marketing

It happens often that you stumble upon a keyword or small niche where you're successful in getting conversions, but you're a bit confused on how to how to scale the advertisement. It's not as simple as just increasing the budget or getting a bigger audience, because there's no guarantee that the additional impressions you get will be shown the type of people that resemble your customer.

Sometimes you get lucky and strike at oil, but more than time than not, your campaign is a dud. There are many more elements that need to be in play for you to be successful. First is TRACKING the right numbers. As I mentioned in my FREE guide, amateur marketers get hung up with vanity metrics. People often look at "likes, engagements, emojis" when none of these metrics have any effect on the bottom line. In Google Adwords, there's 40 or 50 different metrics, numbers, and ratios you can track, but really 2 or 3 really make any difference. Tracking the right numbers is key.

Business has been always complicated to me, but the more I attempt, the more I learn about the nature of trade & marketing.
The purpose of business is no just to make money, but to satisfy your values. I don't know of a person that lives in a 100% utilitarian way, making purely rational decisions for increased profitability. People who attempt such a path end up with high cortisol levels, a S-shaped spine, and a mid-life crisis.

This is the way I like to look at it: you're not aiming to make more money p***e. What you really desire is to increase your power, to extend your influence, and to solidify your strength.

Money or sales may be a useful metric at certain times, but realize the metric changes constantly. The metric you pursue, must be the metric that aligns with your organization's core values.

If you're not reviewing your progress on predictable, scheduled basis, you're not taking a scientific approach to your business and your progress will be random. Personally I draft and review performance reports on weekly basis to keep my life in sync and my memory intact. If you're not doing this effectively, I strongly encourage you to join the Alliance.

So what does it exactly mean to increase your power as a marketer? 2 things: increasing your reach & improving your conversion rate. Tracking those numbers on an ongoing-basis is critical for long-term growth. Seems easy, but easiest things often become difficult.
