Yesterday we had our biggest equipment donation to date! With the help of our fleet of interns and volunteers we picked up 270+ monitors, docks, cables, keyboards and office furniture from Ferguson. Ferguson Enterprises came through big and our interns got to do their first real pickup in their new Tech Toss shirts (thanks to The Printed Image). Our goal this summer is to fix up as much as we so we can donate high quality workstations to other nonprofits and community members in need. Thank you, Ferguson, for choosing to keep these items in the community 🙌🙌

This week we had the opportunity to help out two fellow nonprofits: Pedal Press and the Butte Environmental Council.

Tech Toss was able to refurbish and donate 3 laptops and a Dell Precision Xeon workstation to help support Pedal Press’ upcoming after-school programming, where students will get hands-on experience with digital design and traditional art skills.

For the Butte Environmental Council (BEC), we supplied them with a higher-end workstation PC for one of their new employees. BEC’s mission is to protect Butte County’s land, air, and waterways.

We’re grateful for a chance to support both of these amazing organizations, all while keeping discarded technology out of the landfill.

A year ago we took on our first cohort of interns from . We didn’t have a building yet, so they met in our founder’s living room and worked on projects out of the garage. Now we have partnerships with CAGD, and and a new cohort of summer interns. We’ve created an intern program where students not only get course credit, but every week they get hands on experience learning new things. This week it was learning how to dissemble and rebuild PCs. Some of our previous interns even dropped by to join in on the fun. Our goal at Tech Toss is that our students walk away with deeper knowledge of technology, new friendships, and more confidence.
